How to invite the officiant?

I know it's tradition to invite the officiant to the reception, although I am 99% sure our priest will not come as the church has 2 other weddings scheduled that day after ours.  There's a chance both of those couples are bringing in a different priest, but I feel it's a very small chance.  Anyway, I still feel like I should extend an invitation to him, I'm just not certain how to go about doing it.  Just mail him an invitation?  Should I include a little note so he remembers he's presiding over our wedding (the Cathedral does at least 3 weddings every weekend, and we only met him once, so it's entirely possible he will have no idea who we are if we just mail him an invite with no note).   Or would a phone call be ok?

    I sent ours an invitation.

I would imagine that he would check his calendar when he received your invitation and he would realize that he is presiding over your ceremony.

I agree....I would just send an invitation as I would to any other guest.
Hopefully he can put 2 & 2 together and figure you'll be the couple he's marrying that day :)

I agree on sending him the invite.  Some priests/pastors will not attend your reception without a formal invitation.  I find this very strange, but for whatever reason, some of them have this rule.

I invited him when we met with him for our pre-wedding meetings.  I reminded him a few other times in between that and the wedding date and he came and said the blessing before dinner.  :)
