Bridesmaids Gifts

Is it ok to offer to pay for the bridesmaids hair and makeup on the wedding day as their gift?  At first I thought it was a great idea but then I started thinking how it could appear to be selfish.

Think of it this way:  would you consider it a good birthday gift for them to get their hair and makeup done for your wedding?  No.  Shop for them as if it's their birthday and then you'll be sure to get them a gift they want.

Also if you are making them get their hair and make up done, the bride should pay for it.  If it's optional, they should know the prices beforehand so they can decide if they want it done or not.

Yea, I have to agree. If it's for your wedding it shouldn't be considered a "gift". I would suggest finding something that is personal for each bridesmaid as a gift and just give your girls the option of having their hair and make up done.

I agree with PP. I didn't make hair/nails/makeup mandatory. I told them at this time, this place, this price if you want to. They all chose to get it done, which I loved. They all got individual gifts --- the only "wedding related" item was jewlery for the day of.

I'm on a tight budget so I'm getting them something small yet sentimental with a card.  I'd agree with Liz and pretend it's their birthday and get them something personal.

Sit down with your BMs individually (asking them all at once could make them feel intimidated if the 'group' answers differently than they would individually) and ask what they envision their hair & makeup would look like on your big day. If they're willing to shell out some moolah for it all, then great! If not, do trial-runs with them all doing their own hair and make up (or if you want them all to have the same hair see if one of them will do everyone's so it all looks the same)... Make up really helps display a person's personality, so I am all for everyone doing their own thing (they may be BMs but that doesn't mean they have to be robots!)

    Best of luck girl! xo
