The Views at Mt. Fuji

Haven't seen any mention of this venue here. We're going to take a look on Saturday. Any thoughts? Any experiences positive or negative?

They were just on the news a few weeks ago for spilling fecal waste on the property.
I have eaten there before and the food was very good, however the bathrooms were so dirty that it prevented me from coming back. FWIW, however, the last time I was there was when I was in high school.

    I'd search for another venue!

There was a post a few days ago (4/29/10) by Droog 6655321. She asked about wedding venues in Rockland or Bergin County. It's right now in the beginning of the second page. Quite a few people responded. you might want to check it out!

    Good Luck!

I wouldn't let the sewage impact your decision to be honest.  Plenty of places have issues and this is being addressed by the health dept.  I have heard you can't fit too many people there though and the food is only an American menu, you do not eat the Japanese food, just as an FYI.

Not sure how I feel about the sewage situation. Sounds nasty, but what bothers me more is their unresponsiveness.

We really wanted to get married in Ulster County - for personal reasons - but haven't found a suitable place. Right now it's looking like Catlin Gardens... which has its issues as well.

Bergen County is not an option at all.

We went to The Views at Mt. Fuji yesterday and are now deciding between there and Catlin Gardens.

For those of you who responded to my earlier post, the bathrooms in the restaurant and the catering venue were spotless - and had motion sensors for lighting which is something I like. They accommodate between 50 and 240 people comfortably for a sit down dinner with dancing. And there is sushi in the cocktail hour so that's Japanese.

We came up with pros and cons list for each venue.

Catlin Gardens has 5 pros and 5 cons - the biggest pro being the back-up plan for inclement weather and the biggest con being where do the out of town guests stay affordably and comfortably.

For The Views, we had 4 pros and 4 cons. Pro was hotels with shuttle service. Cons were busy restaurant above and inflexible back-up plan for inclement weather - and the fact that you all told us not to consider this is a possible venue.

Really torn over what to do.

The biggest issue with Catlin Gardens is where to have overnight guests stay - and then what to do as a group the following day.

Their minimum is also higher than what we'd hoped to have at our wedding, but that's more our issue than theirs.

Jenni, where did your overnight guests stay?

we had our overnight guests stay at the holiday inn & we stayed at the Marriot.the day after you could have a brunch mabye if your looking for a group thing to do.when are you getting married? they may have the hotel done by then.
as far as the minimum they do have different packages what is your pp maximum? mabye you can talk to them about lowering the price and alter your menu a little bit.Are you having the ceremony at the place or off site?

honestly the place is beautiful, the food is amazing and the staff are awsome they make sure that everything run's just how you want it and that you are as calm as can be.When choosing a venue that is the only place i looked at with my parents & we booked it on the spot and i couldnt be happier i did eVerything went so smooth. You will not be disapointed.
