STD's are out in the mail! Woo Hoo

I'm just super excited that my STD's went out in the mail this morning. I can't wait for people to get them and start getting excited. I know, I've still got time, but a lot of our guests are out of town and FI's family is in Portugal.
Woo hoo!   Smile

    Congrats!

How far in advance are you?  I have to figure out when to send mine.  Most of my guests won't be travelling too far, but I'm concerned about the hotel booking up, and I don't really see the point in waiting for too long since we have the venue booked.

If you look at her siggy, she is 9 months out. We sent ours just over 6 months out. Depending on which website you look to for advice, sending 12, 9, 8 or 6 months is mentioned. Just realize, if you send yours soon, make sure the hotel will book reservations that early. Many hotels won't take reservations until 11 or 12 months beforehand. So you will have to wait at least a month to send yours out.

We sent ours around Thanksgiving and included the hotel info.

    Good luck!

Yeah, we are 9 months out. A lot of people are getting married next year and we've been bombarded with STDs ourselves so we figured we should get them out. You don't have to send them out to everyone, just the people who it would mean most to you if they made it so I thought it was important to get these out to them ASAP.
We've pretty much got everything done and I feel as though the STDs were a huge weight off!

    Question.....
When you ladies sent out your std's did you only send to specific people or your entire wedding list?

I'm confused :(  ... Which at times can happen very easily haha

Anyone who gets a save the date gets invited to the wedding.

Also, anyone who gets invited to any pre-wedding parties (engagement party, bridal shower, etc. gets invited to teh wedding.

That said, you can send Save the dates to whomever you like, you don't need to send them to your entire wedding list. We basicallly sent it to everyone early on, but we sent two batches of std's (Thanksgiving, and Christmas) because we were fine tuning our guest list.

So as long as yuo know they are getting  awedding invite, you can send a save the date. But make sure that you keep the people consistant. Either all, all that have to travel, immediate family, etc

Don't send to Aunt Jane but not Aunt Susie because you don't want to create tension before the wedding. If you know you want Aunt Jane there, let her know about it, but if you aren't sure about Aunt Susie, don't make it obvious other family members received a STD and she didn't. Same with friends, co-workers, etc.

It's hard enough when you send invites and all can't be invited, you don't want the extra stress months beforehand about why someone got a STD and why someone else didn't.

    HTH! GL!

100% agree with TerriandJoe. We have a few of FI's friends who he's not sure he wants to invite because we are having 70 ppl tops to our wedding. So we sent out to just those who we feel will make our day just that much more special by being there. We have several STDs left for perhaps another batch if we start feeling strong about adding another guest.
He's Portuguese with a lot of family in Portugal and I'm Costa Rican with a lot of family still in Costa Rica so we felt it necessary to send those out as well so they can start planning if they want to attend.

You have to be sure, though, that the people to whom you are sending an STD are definitely people you can see and want to see at your wedding 6-9 months from now!

    Hope this helps!

Thanks I see that now!  I have a bad habit of skipping over the signatures!  Yeah, I am thinking I might send mine in November (at least an initial round).  Probably not many if any people will book the hotel that early, but they'll at least have the info and I can email reminders to close friends and family to book their hotel rooms early.  Our guest list is already mostly figured out (thankfully that part wasn't too painful!).  Thanks for the advice!

One thing that's really helpful if you also want out of towners to be informed early enough is to provide your website information on the STD if you have a website. GL!
