Just finalized my guest list (for the umpteenth time!) and we have hit 306!
The room hold 285-290...think I am ok??
Or should I do a B List??

I hate using the machete ... so I feel your pain. Unfortunately, if your venue can only do 290, I'd invite 290. There are some who've had 100% attendance and others who haven't - but weddings funny things you never know who will travel great distance, show up, etc. What are you going to do if 295 show up?

I'm not a fan of b-lists ... I feel like somehow people find out and feelings get hurt.

I would perhaps talk to both moms and see who they can cut?

I would cut the guest list down a little. Just because the room holds 290 doesn't mean it will be comfortable at 290, you may find it more ideal at 275 or so.

I also don't like b-lists - they are asking for trouble in my opinion.

I agree with pp, in that, if your venue holds 290 max, I would not invite more than that.  And, as pp said, 290 might be the max but it might not be comfortable.  I am sure there are people that you can eliminate without having to do a "b" list.

Sigh, not the words I wanted to hear, but obviously you guys make some good points...I wanted you to say, "Don't worry, they won't all show up!" LOL

But, with my luck, they will!

I can't remember the exact percentage (i think it is 20%????) but there is some percent that won't show up. 

That being said, in my opinion, I can't imagine that your mom and MIL cannot find 8 people each to cut from your list.  That is only four couples a piece.
