For sale are my beautiful petal aisle runners homemade by me and used for my recent 6/29/12 Wedding. The petals are Ivory-colored. I originally purchased the petals from an ebay seller. Approx 8,000 petals were used for the entire project. Took me 6 weeks (nights & weekends), about 50 sticks of hot glue, burnt fingers, and sore back from hunching over & hot gluing these suckers on petal-by-petal to white tulle. Surprisingly, it was a very fun project and I endured the many “are you crazy?!” comments for making this masterpiece. It truly added a lot to my outdoor ceremony, and will look great at yours too.
I used 6-inch wide tulle for the long straight pieces lining the aisle. I estimate about 30-35 feet for each side, and then the tails begin. The swirled tails you will see in the picture is a bit wider than 6-inches (maybe 6-10) as I hand-cut the tails from tulle bolts, so it’s not exact. But still blends very nicely together.
They are used, so some grass/dirt is stuck to the underside of the tulle, but it’s still in excellent condition and no one will ever notice. It does take some time and patience to set up as tulle is very flexible. To secure to the ground, I used floral wire from Michael’s cut into 4-5 inch strips using wire cutter, then I hand-bent them into long U’s to secure to the grass/ground. Floral wire is pretty bendy and nothing more durable was required. Those are NOT included/provided. You will need to come up with some means to secure yours. Or maybe they will even be just fine without being secured, it’s up to you.
The design will come to you in 4 pieces: 2 of the long straight 30-35 feet pieces; and then 2 tail swirls. They will be rolled up and I will identify which is which. Assembly required when setting up. It was really quite easy to figure out what goes where and “wing” it. No real starting or ending piece. We did a mock up in our backyard and would suggest you do the same just so you can practice setting up & see how it looks.
