Marriage License Question - Especially For Recently Married Ladies!!

Hi Ladies,

I hope you all might be able to help me.  I got married 2 weeks ago, on June 5, in Tarrytown, NY.  Our officiant was unable to show up (car trouble) and sent someone else in his place - which was fine.  What is NOT fine is that we still haven't received our marriage license.  It should have been sent to North Castle for filing, and the town clerk's office there says they have not received it yet.  We contacted our officiant and he says he believes it was sent out. 

Here is what I need help with:
1) Is 2 weeks an unreasonable amount of time for us to expect to have received the license in the mail?

2) If we don't receive it in whatever a reasonable amount of time is, does anyone know what channels/solutions would be available to us to solve the problem?  We would really hate to have to re-pay for a license and then a JP to "re-marry" us, and I'm pretty stuck without the license as far as changing my name, etc, goes!

    oh jeez, what a mess.  We got our license about 2 weeks after we got married.  I would say give it another week and see.  But I would contact your officiant to see if you can get the phone number of the preson that married you so that you can contact them directly.  Its possible they were just delayed in mailing it which is causing the delay.   Good Luck.  Next time you talk to the town clerk maybe ask them what is normal procedure if the license doesnt show up.

    I agree with pp.

    Our officiant actually gave us a photocopy of what he was sending so that we had it just in case but sent the license for us.  I would say it was about 2 weeks when we got it. 

    I would definitely call him and explain the issue.

    We got ours really quickly. But I think a lot has to do with how busy that town clerks office is. As pp's suggested - check with the town clerk and the person who married you. Also ask if they have a copy of it somewhere that they could make you a copy of their copy. That way you at least have something!

    Thanks for all the advice!

    It turned out our officiant somehow forgot to mail in the license.  He has since overnighted it to the town clerk's office, and the clerk's office says they sent it to us yesterday - so hopefully everything is taken care of now!
