I got married on Long Island so I didn't write vendor reviews on this board but I have two for up here: husband's limo and florist.
Husband's Limo: Golden Knight: C
I would not book them if I were you. This was a simple pick-up/drop-off from his parents house in Cortlandt Manor to our church in Farmingdale (LI). I went with them because they assured me that they would never send a limo with a broken AC (like what happened at his cousin's Oct 5 wedding where it was freakishly 85 degrees out that day). So they showed up on time, but the driver was yelling at my father-in-law the minute he got there saying the street was too small and he couldn't fit the limo there. My FIL told him there was room to turn at the end of the street in the driveway because it's his BIL's house and the man didn't want to hear it and told him he never drove a limo before so he wouldn't know and made my FIL stop traffic on the main street (RT 202) so he could turn it around. Then, we contracted a 14 person limo and there were 8 guys and they were tight so there is no way she sent a 14. Also, the limo wasn't working and it was a 2 hour drive on a hot, hot day. The limo driver got off the highway to "avoid traffic" but really he went straight to the city street that had the traffic, don't know why he got off the highway. I think the worst part is that my mother called the company while I was on my honeymoon and the woman's response to the AC was "All limo's are hot because it's the same system as a regular car." If that is true, how come I was freezing in my twice the size Escalade? Didn't make sense, I wouldn't use them.
Florist
I used Pedestals Florist in Garden City Park on Long Island but I had booked with Vito Russo. In April we called to schedule our sample and they had told me he was out on medical leave (their way of saying he no longer worked there). I was really nervous but the new person understood the vision of what Vito and I had created. I was upset because I LOVED LOVED LOVED Vito. He was 100% the reason why I booked that florist. Anyway, the flowers came out beautiful but I'm writing about Vito. My friend is getting married next July and we were talking last night because while on my honeymoon she booked her florist. She went on and on about how passionate the florist was and she remembered me doing the same thing. I told her that's why I had booked Vito in the first place and she said "OMG my guy's name is Vito too!" She looked on the paper and it's the same guy (when I met him he told me he lived in Yonkers so I had a feeling!). Anyway, if you are looking for someone who is absolutely passionate about what they do and will work with any budget, visit Vito Russo at Westchester Floral Designs!
