re: Your honeymoon arrangements... did you...

For your honeymoon arrangements ...
Where did you choose to go?
How much did you allocate for your trip?
Did you make them yourself? or
Did you go thru a travel agent?  If you did go thru an agent (and you liked them)  could you send me thier info via pvt message? I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

We went to Hawaii.  We researched the trip ourselves and priced it out but booked through a travel agent.  We spent a lot of money but we were there 10 nights and flights alone were pricey.  It was def worth the money.

My FI and I just booked our honeymoon 3 days ago! We had it down to Greece, Spain (Majorica) and France. After literally like 3 months of research and pricing, we choose 8 days on the French Riviera (Nice) and 3 days in Paris. Airfare, hotels, and fees/taxes came out to $3400. We're hoping to spend no more than $1600 while there (we won't be eating at ridiculously fancy restaurants or anything) so that we approximately stay in our budget of $5000.

    We went to Antigua.
We used Jennifer from thetropicaltravelers.com and she was amazing. We had a last minute emergency and some problems on our trip and she took care of everything for us.
We spent a little over $4k I believe.

I highly recommend using a travel agent - they are free, and most will do price matchign so there is no reason not to use one. If something goes wrong, it is wonderful to be able to call someone who has connections and can help you.

we spent two weeks in costa rica. went to three different cities and did a lot of excursions. we used a travel agent, costa rican vacations. they were great and set everything up perfectly, including all transportation and most of the excursions that we did.

We went to Virginia. We didn't want to fly.

Our accommodations were a gift from my sister and brother in law (time share)

Place would have been $2200 for the week.

We brought $1000 and took another $400 from the ATM while there.

    No travel agent necessary.

Talk with your fiance about what you both want. (Whether the beach, mountains, close to home, islands, foreign country, etc)

If you plan a more complicated or distant trip - definitely get a travel agent.

Good luck! Have fun researching places to go!

    For your honeymoon arrangements ...
Where did you choose to go?  Aruba
How much did you allocate for your trip? $6000 (included flying first class which was a must for us for our honeymoon)
Did you make them yourself?  I did research on the hotels and excursions myself and then also spoke with a TA.  We booked the arrangements via a travel angent.
Did you go thru a travel agent?   We used AMEX Travel. (we paid for part of the trip with points) I have used them before and liked them but I did not specifically like this particular travel agent and would not use her again.

Whatever you do, get travel insurance.  We had to post pone our wedding and fortunately with the travel insurance as well as the wedding insurance, we had no extra out of pocket expenses.

We're taking care of things ourselves, but thats mostly because we're staying in the family vacation house on Cape Cod. We're driving (cheap) and staying for free, so I'm anticipating spending less than $1000 for the week- and thats probably a little high. We plan on hitting the beach, playing some golf and being lazy.

We'll probably do a cruise or something tropical in January 2010.

    We went to Sandals Antigua!
It was a total of $5500 including EVERYTHING because Sandals is all inclusive. Also, with sandals you can choose your type of room. We had the concierge room which included a full bar in our room which they restocked at least once a day with liquor, champagne, wine, soda, beer and anything we had uses.  Sandals also includes ALL MEALS at nine different restaurants some of which are very gourmet and offer different options...grilled lobster, sushi bar, and steak to name a few!
The only additional fees we spent were on a couple optional excursions that probably came to $600 but it was well worth it because we did things we really loved including an awesome couples massage, ziplining, and a kayak tour.
We used his friends mom as a travel agent.

We're headed to Jamaica for our Honeymoon and are paying for it ourselves. We did most of the research on our own but booked it through Liberty Travel. Airfare, all-inclusive resort, and airport/hotel transport has come up to $2400. We're planning on taking $2000 to cover any cost of excursions and tips.

    Good Luck with your plans!

We originally decided to take our dream trip and booked a trip to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea. (But we ended up in Hawaii- explained below)

It was quite expensive, but the travel agent did some decent work finding some deals or little extras for us. Depending on where you go, a travel agent may have access to special pricing that we don't.

We booked through a travel agent, which I am glad we did because we flew to LAX to board our plane to Tahiti we found out when we tried to check in at LAX for our flight that our flight was cancelled and there was no way we were going to be able to get there! The travel agent was able to book us a new honeymoon within 24 hours and start getting what we could refunded from our original honeymoon while we were in Hawaii.

We went through a high end travel agent and we were NOT happy with her. If you want more info PM me.

We are thinking about taking a cruise in the mediterranean but we haven't started planning it or decided for sure yet.

Definitely look into prices before making a "decision."  My co-worker who is getting married next June was talking for months about going to hawaii for their honeymoon (not just to me but posting updates about it on facebook and everything).  Then they visited with some travel agents to price it, and decided they'd rather go on a less expensive honeymoon because they are saving for a house.

Now everyone is asking her about her hawaii honeymoon plans and she has to keep telling people over and over that they couldn't afford it.

we did Sandals Grande in St Lucia and spent about the same, maybe like $5200 and we brought like $700 for excursions and things we wanted to buy and the spa.  We had the BEST TIME!!!!!  We also used a travel agent through my husband's PBA association, it was hassle free.

I HIGHLY recommend the conceirge rooms, they were absolutely wonderful. They booked everything for you, set up your excursions, dinners and provided you with whatever you wanted.

went to hawaii, used Liberty Travel, and everything- 10 days there, flights, hotel, etc. was about $8000 total.  we did everything we wanted and didn't skimp on anything because we know the likelihood of us going back to hawaii is slim to none
