Blue Hills vs. Lake View vs. Omni Parker House

Hello,

I am trying to decide between these three venues. If anyone has used them, or has any insight that would be great! Thanks :)

I'm thinking about the Omni Parker House too and would love some feedback from other brides. I think it's a beautiful place but the actual reception room could use a bit of an update - like the ceiling tiles look a little dated.

I think that the room is old but the entire hotel has so much history.  The thing about omni parker is that you have to appreciate the fact that it is not modern and updatd.  Are there saturday august dates available?? They told me no saturdays were available in july and august except july 3!

    Hi,
When are you looking to have it - I've seen pictures where the room looks very different depending on the time of year, and even the time of day.

I attended a  wedding at the Omni 2 years ago.  It was lovely.  I thought the room and the view as beautiful.  I do know that the bride was hit with an unexpected charge for the chivari chairs.  To the tune of $1200.  She thought they were part of the package.. so a little bit of miscommunication there.  My daughter had her reception at Lakeview in November of 2008.  It was beautiful.  I've heard people say they nickel and dime you... but everything was spelled out when we gave the initial deposit, and when we went for our details meeting, we weren't surprised.  I would say you can't go wrong with either venue.  Sorry, don't know anything about Blue Hills CC.  Good luck!

I have 2 married sisters. The first one got married at  Lake View and the second one got married at Blue Hills. They were both beautiful weddings. I loved the outside of Blue Hills where cocktail hour was and there are some great picture opportunities. The one problem with Blue Hills is the bar is in a different room then the hall. That lead to a lot of people hanging out at the bar and not dancing or even being in the room.

As for Lake View, they were great and I don't remember anything that my sister did not like.

I'm getting married at the Omni in May. So far they've been pretty easy to work with, and for us, we really wanted our guests in downtown Boston. Even if downtown crossing isn't the greatest part of the city, it's on the freedom trail, and super close to fanueil hall, etc. so our guests who have never been to Boston will get to see everything.

I agree on the ceiling - that bothered me too, but there is a small chance they'll be fixing it sometime early next year. I think it's a pretty slim possibility at this point, but I'm crossing my fingers. No, it's not perfect, but it was the right size, price and location, and even has some outside space, so I figured I could live with things like the ceiling, since it'll be dark for a good bit of the reception, and I don't expect most guests to stair at the ceiling :)

And although I clearly haven't gotten married, so I don't know what the final bill will be, so far it has seemed very clear what is and what is not included in our package. We were told from the beginning that chivari chairs and any linens other than white we'd have to pay for. Our current coordinator (who is actually out on maternity leave but will be back in time to plan all the details of our day) is really responsive and very willing to work with us on customizing parts of the package to make it more us. HTH!

I got married at Lakeview.  They were great!!!  They do nickle and dime you after you sign the contract so be prepared to spend more then you think.  My opinion...if you go with Lakeview just do the basic package.  I forget what it is called, I think Silver...I did the higher package and honestly, they do not have a good selection of invites...the centerpieces you can do on your own...your not getting a deal at all.  They give you $30.00 per table...what is that???  And the cake, you can do on your own.  If you have any other questions page me I will be happy to answer or send pictures

I'm getting married at LakeView in August... now I'm curious as to which package I should choose! And what was the deal about the $30 per table? For flowers? The package says they offered dozen roses per table OR an arrangement of seasonal flowers-- were they not big?

I'd be curious to know what else they nickel and dime you on...
