Affordable DJ - no cheese/props?

Looking for an affordable DJ who's not corny/cheesy and doesn't use props. I'd like to keep the party really fun, but classy at the same time. I also want someone who won't be extremely expensive (under $1000). Any ideas?

I'm not sure how much they charge because their services are included in my venue price, but we have Paul Giroux Entertainment. I have spoken with Paul himself and he explained to me that him and his other guys are very classy (they always wear a tux to the weddings they do) and like to keep the weddings that way, no cheesy stuff!

I've heard nothing but great things about them so far from a couple friends and family members that have been to weddings where they were DJing, so I am very excited to have them for mine!

    HTH and good luck!

You could try Curtis Knight.  I think it is 1000 for 5 hours but they might be able to work with you.  I'm using Mark Cherone from there and really liked him in our meeting(No Props)

Curtis Knight out of Billerica, MA is great. I'm looking into DJs myself and for a 5 hour reception they are $1,000 (right at your budget). I have used them for my parent's anniversary party and my friends just used them at their wedding (no props at all). I haven't actually inquired, but the $1,000 was listed on their website and I know they are great. They have been around for years.

Mike at DJ Workshard is out of Marlborough, MA, but does events in the Boston area.  He's very affordable, we've used him for many work events that I've run.  He's great: www.djworkshard.com

I went with DJ By Jake and his price was unbelievable! He'll def. be able to work within your budget and he is amazing at getting back to you. Good luck!
