I think it is, but people may disagree with me. I'd think that was quite a hike. However, if you shuttled me to the location, then I wouldn't mind.

depending on how i was related to u, i would probably skip the church, unless the church was close to my home

I've seen a lot of different opinions on this subject, so I guess in the end it is a matter of what YOUR guests are going to think. I do think it is too far, but I also agree wtih PP that I wouldn't mind if there was a shuttle. It does not sound like (and I could be reading into it wrong) you are particularly attached to the church - perhaps there is one closer?

I'm getting married at the church I was raised in, our reception venue is about 35 mins away from it.  I didnt think it was too big a deal for our guests since our wedding is a Friday, so most people wont be coming to the church and there aren't too many venues available in our area so its expected that some travel will be necessary. LIke PP said, its really going to depend on the area and your guests.

i had a huge debate with myself about this same topic.  we are getting married at 2pm on a saturday in yonkers. our venue is in mahopac (approx 45 mins away) and doesn't begin until 7pm.

my thought is that since there's a gap in between locals have the opportunity to go home, get dressed, etc.  out of towners and/or hotel guests will probably head to the hotel where i have a shuttle taking them to and from the reception. or like PP said, people will skip the church and just head up to the venue after.  i found a hotel that has rates on the lower side with hopes that anyone who feels it's too far of a hike can opt to stay overnight.

bottom line is that those the guests who want to be there for church and reception will come no matter what.  i chose the venues and church that i did because i wanted it.  before making a decision i ran my choices by some friends and family and they told me to do what i want and that they will be there no matter where it is.

good luck and just remember this day is about you and your hubs to be.  =)
