going to a wedding and I need some advice

Hi ladies, quick question. FI and I are going to a wedding saturday and I'm unsure of what I should wear. The wedding is not very formal so I was thinking of wearing this pretty sun dress I have that is white with black polka-dots but I'm not sure if its appropriate because it is white. Like I said it has a lot of black in it too but I dont want to offend anyone esp. the bride.let me know what you ladies think. The wedding is a daytime wedding with a day reception and "casual" so I'm totally clueless on what is expected to be worn. Thanks again :)

I don't think that wearing a white dress with black polka dots would be considered "wearing white to a wedding".  I don't think it would draw as much attention as wearing a white dress. This reminds me of a trip to a friend's wedding when I was just out of college.  One of my other friends, who I love dearly but can be a bit clueless somtimes, bought a WHITE dress to wear to this wedding.  She had absolutely no clue that you weren't supposed to wear white to a wedding.

I think as long as there are a lot of polka dots you are fine. I have see some ridiculous outfits at wedding. Including ridiculous dresses. It's funny how clueless people can be sometime. I doubt the bride even notices though, probably just the other guests.

You'll be fine. Don't worry about it!

Totally fine, don't worry about it! I was at a wedding on Saturday and there were 3 cream/light gold/white dresses. So a dress w/tons of polka dots will be a okay  :)

A good friend wore a white/ivory maxi dress with a black pattern on it to my wedding. No one confused her for the bride :)  I actually didn't even notice it was white until I saw this thread and thought about my own guests.

Like pp say I think your choice in attire is just fine. I also had people wear white and black to mine and didn't think twice of it.However if you know the bride and she's the super super sensitive kind then maybe reconsider. Otherwise I think your good :-) Have fun!
