We went very traditional-- black cutaway "morning" coats over charcoal and black pinstripe trousers. White wing collar shirts with dark grey (groom) or black (others) vests and coordinating neckties in a wide diagonal black/grey stripe. We hemmed and hawed over doing ascots instead of neckties in the name of tradition, but ultimately decided to modernize the look just slightly. The image in my bio (under "attire") is close, but doesn't show the striped tie or pinstripe pants. It's a 4 PM wedding, so we're just getting in under the wire on the appropriatess of morning coats. Even if it had been at 5, though-- who really cares?! FI loves them.
