Places for Winter weddings

I am not getting married until November 2011 but I am interesting in any Boston brides that had winter weddings and their experiences with venues. Obviously an outdoor wedding is out for me and I know a lot of places do specials for out of season months. I am trying to stay close to home (just north of Boston) so in case of snow driving to and from the reception wont be a nightmare. I am just interested to see if any Boston brides had good experiences with winter weddings.

My husband and I had a winter wedding last year at Barker's Tavern.  The people there are super nice and I believe there was a special because we had a Friday winter wedding.  It's in Scituate.

My sister (and MOH) also got married at the Hawthorne in Salem and it was great.  Her wedding was in December and the lobby was decked w/ poinsettias which made for some beautiful pics!

I remember reading about a bride who did a winter wedding at Wentworth by the Sea in Newington, NH and said they were marvelous.  I believe their are hotel rooms right at the venue.

I got married at Lake Pearl Luciano's in Wrentham and have seen photos of winter weddings done there that turned out to be gorgeous so obviously I would recommend them...HOWEVER.... I would ALSO recommend Lake View Pavillion if you are looking at a real "WOW" factor....We were initially going to have our wedding there but then due to a few factors, namely rude staff when we were going to sign, we changed our mind. Since that time they seemed to have changed their personnel so hopefully that isn't still a problem anymore although I hear they still do nickle and dime you...I defer to brides who have recently had their weddings there though. The decorations for a winter wedding are absolutely breathtaking and unlike any others I have seen.

I am getting married at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA in June and I highly recommend it! :) It's a gorgeous place to get married. I know that they have a really amazing package for Jan, Feb, and March -it's called their "Winter Wedding" and you can look online to see what it includes. The Hawthorne is beautiful in the winter, and they decorate it so nicely. Good luck!

Just re-read your post- if you are getting married in November, then it wouldn't be considered a "winter wedding" by the Hawthorne's standards. Either way, I would still recommend checking it out.

It's weird how some places consider November a "winter" month and some places it's still peak season. Thanks for all your help! I appreciate it.

I am getting married in January at the Barker Tavern in Scituate. It has a very cozy New England atmosphere near Scituate Harbor. The room has a huge stone fireplace and it's really a lovely location. There are lots of inns and B&Bs nearby.

Janaury 1st at the Warren Center in Ashland. Has a cozy rustic feel to it and a beautiful fire place.

Shazzie - I was just looking at your website and I am obsessed with your lighthouse design! Where did you get that! I am getting married at the Barker next December, so your website was so helpful. Which bakery is making the lighthouse cookies? I tried to send you a message through the knot but I have no clue how to do it :) anyways thanks for your help, it looks like your wedding is going to be amazing!

After looking at the Hawthorne Hotel, I actually fell in love and we talked about moving the wedding up to March. So we would get the winter special! It looks like thats our decision at the moment but nothing has been books yet since we still want to view other venues first and make the right choice. Thank for everyone's opinions :)
