Meaghan ,Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here's our complete engagement story:A few weeks before joining Steve’s family on vacation in Eastham, he suggested we make reservations for an overnight stay elsewhere on the Cape. It would be a chance to have a little time to ourselves and explore some place new. From time to time Steve makes such plans, so I thought nothing of it.Provincetown seemed to be a good fit with plenty to see and do. Our stay at a local inn was booked and things looked to be a go. After asking a family friend and part-time Truro resident for recommendations, he sent back a thoughtfully written list of his favorites. At the end of his note, he reminded us that the area would be quite busy as our stay would coincide with Carnival.More than anything else, we were looking to relax. When I called Steve to let him know our plans likely needed to change, we began considering alternative destinations. I even suggested waiting until another time as we would already be on vacation and might enjoy an overnight trip later in the year. Steve, undeterred, began looking for options on Martha’s Vineyard. He quickly settled on The Clark House in Vineyard Haven. Soon after departing from Woods Hole we arrived in Vineyard Haven, checked into the guest house, and set out to explore. We ventured into the village, strolled along the beach, and then returned to our room to get ready for the evening. After dinner at The Oyster Bar Grill, Steve suggested taking a walk along the waterfront in Oak Bluffs. It didn’t seem out of the ordinary as he enjoys spending time off the beaten path, away from the crowds. We sat together on the seawall for a bit, chatting about everyday sorts of things and admiring the view. The lights from rustic beach houses flickered in the background, while the ocean glistened with the reflection of the moon, and the tide rolled along the shore. After twenty minutes or so had passed, Steve asked “Are you ready?” Thinking he was suggesting we return to the hustle and bustle of the center, I stood up and turned toward him. Steve got down on one knee. He paused for a bit, and then asked if I was “going to say yes.” I reminded him he hadn’t asked me anything… He smiled, and then proposed! It was amazing. I am so happy to have MV as part of our story. And hope to make a retun visit to pick up our wedding license in Edgartown as we travel to the Cape each summer. Your wedding looked amazing! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as mine gets closer. : )---yay congrats! I especially like this part: He proposed this August while we were vacationing on Martha's Vineyard. It was beautiful! Since I am obsessed with MV. Where did he do it?
