LED lights in centerpieces?

Has anyone used LED lights in their vases/centerpieces? My FMIL thinks this idea is fabulous since she saw at someone elses wedding and set up an example for me. I really can't tell if this is tacky or not. Has anyone used them or made them look really elegant? I suppose this would remove the need for votives around the table. Thanks!

I havent used or seen this but what I did for our centerpieces was made one before I bought everything for all 15. Luckily I have a 8 person round table in my dinning room so I put a white table cloth on and messed with the centerpeice until it looked right

Boston Uplights does LED centerpiece lighting. Even if you are looking to do them as a DIY project you can check out their wesbite to get some ideas and see the final product.

I'm curious about this too as our venue doesn't allow candles unless you hire a fire marshall, which I'm not sure we are willing to pay for.  Did you get the kind that flicker like candles?  Where do you get them from?

i am actually doing non-floral centerpieces (havent done a real mock-up yet) and bought LED lights at Christmas Tree Shops.  They were $2.99 each for LED pillars...they had cheaper ones, but i didn't want anything with a scent.

Dollar Tree had LED tea lights (2/$1)  We are planning on using them in mini lanterns.

I haven't bought anything yet but my future mother-in-law thinks its the greatest idea ever and brought a "sample" to show me. I think she got the LED lights at Michaels but she mentioned they have flat LED discs that sit on the bottom but I bet you can get them anywhere like Christmas Tree Shop. But I do think putting them in lanterns would be a great idea. I was going to do lanters in my cocktail room but although we don't need a fire marshall, we need to go to the Watertown Fire Dept. and get any candles approved. So I think LED lights in those would work well. I'm just not sold on the centerpieces. May ask my florist what she thinks and if she's done it before.
