Ooooh fun Poll!! Lets see, well there are a few things that I would consider unique as I haven't seen them done, but would say something that we are "considering' is the most unique, so here goes. 1. Fiance's dad passed away of lung cancer two years ago, so we are combining the dontation in lieu of favor with a favor, and having white lung cancer awareness bracelets (think yellow livestrong bracelets, but white) at eat setting, with a small card attached to them with fiance's dad's picture with a few kind words about him and referencing his memory. We love it as the $ buying the bracelets go to lung cancer research, but its also a token of remembrance of his dad on our big day. 2. We are getting married at an estate and instead of a photobooth, we are looking to hire a student/apprentice photographer to take pics in a a "red carpet room" in the mansion and literally have a little red carpet with a poster board in the background with the date on it - we think it will be fun for our guests, as well as some crazy pics to come out of it. Also, the apprentice photographer gets some exposure/can use it for portfolio (hoping that we can find one willing to do it). 3. We are considering having child irish tep dancers come out and do a set while everyone is eating dinner. This would be extra special to me as I irish stepped for almost 20 years and can't help but get butterflies when I see it (plus, it's actually quiet affordable - as in under $500. I'll probably call up my old dancing teacher who will put a group of kids together for it). Irish Step dancing isn't that long for sets, so it would probably only take 5-10 minutes tops but be something that I know our crazy irish catholic families will enjoy :) I can't wait to hear everyone's ideas! Erin - don't forget to post yours!

I think the most overarching unique thing had to be the venue. Getting married on Martha's Vineyard changes everything about your wedding. You are confined by a ferry ride so all vendors are from the Vineyard (many lived there their whole lives) and you really get a very different authentic feel to a wedding being there both as the B&G and as a guest. It is a very special place that not every one gets to go to all the time and I made sure to show my guests all part of the island. We had a rehearsal dinner in Oak Bluffs, golf and spa days in Vineyard Haven, Bridesmaid brunch in Edgartown, and of course the wedding in Menemsha. Also, for the ceremony to really put a lot of ourselves into that isn't easy to do with a Catholic wedding. We chose readings that weren't in the suggested reading list, put a lot of thought into the prayers of the faithful, chose all hymns that were important to my family and wrote a special couples prayer to be read after the vows. Finally, little things like a menu of special island fare, a raw bar, special signature cocktails, family heirlooms in the wedding, and certain song choices really reflected our tastes as a couple.Good poll :)

hooray for a late night post!! i miss all the ones during the day-dumb work lets see-instead of a guest book my mum custom ordered a Phillies and Red Sox Jersey for our guests to sign. I'm clearly a huge Sox fan and DH is a huge Phillies fans. Most of our guests were from out of town and loved that we stuck with the baseball theme-save the dates were World Series Tickets, table number were custom made mini-shirts for Sox and Phills players. We also had Irish Step Dancers-myself being one of them. My sisters and I did it-one still does and had two of our other guests who also took with us. It was a huge hit and so great. I loved that we had that surprise for everyone. Great Poll!

Great idea! KMeds! I totally miss you! We must catch up! As for the poll hmmm. I think the most memorable things were: 1. We had an Irish step dancing group perform during dinner...I also step danced when I was young and my two cousins as well as the others in their group performed too. 2. The escort cards...We used an ETSY seller to create them and we had all sorts of random questions on the cards, also known as dream catchers, besides the guest name and table. 3. We had table names on one side and then on the other side we explained the meaning...Ex. Norwalk, CT (1st side), 2nd side - Place where Bride and Groom met. 4. This was more for the ladies than the men...and it took a lot of time so it was kinda a pain, but it was worth it....Instead of a "wishing well," my mom had everyone bring recipes....All the ladies who were at the wedding had also been invited or attended the shower...Thus, I took all the recipes I got from the shower, and had someone make a cook book out of them which we gave back at the end of the night to all the guests along with their gift. We made sure to give proper credit in the cook book so that they got credit for their wonderful recipe. 5. I surprised my dad and all the guests when I had our DJ mix two songs...One traditional one (I loved her first) and then "Jump" by the pointer sisters....The second song cut in half way through the second song and no one was expecting it....My dad used to play it every night before I went to sleep for yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsssssss so he got a kick out of it. 6. We had a Spanish Tapas themed cocktail hour...We had some traditional hors duerves (sp?), but then made sure to have the croquettas, sangria, manchego cheese and gambas! yummm... now I'm hungry. 7. We had a Scottish airbag piper outside of the church to entertain the guests as we were waiting to go to reception. I didn't plan this one, my parents surprised us the day of the wedding. I think that's it. Definitely recommend the flip flop basket though...I wouldn't say that is unique but it is a big hit. HTH!

Whoops....Meant to note...#4...The recipes were gathered from the shower...I just reread it and it looks like I meant the reception...The "cook books" were distributed at the reception.

i have one more: instead of bathroom baskets in the traditional sense-we did bathroom buckets and I did the men's while my DH and BestMan did the ladies room. It was hilarious because on top of the basic things you would find-advil, mouthwash etc we each added "fun" things to it-mens room had poker chips, shot glasses, baseball cards etc and the womans room had hair dye (which was hilarious), a book, nail polish, candy. everyone really got a kick out of it and it was the first time we had seen anyone clean out a bathroom basket!

Here it goes!1. Fiance and I are in loveee with snowboarding together! We love our winters to be on the mountain as much as we can! I really wanted our wedding to reflect that. We are getting married at a very rustic beautiful venue with wooden beam fireplaces :) So we are naming our tables the mountains we have been on together.2. We are having jingle bell send offs3. Fiances Mom passed away from leukema so we are doing a donation. she also wrote a poems alot and those will be our readings. Our cermoney will be very personal with even us writing our own vows.4. We doing winter signauture cocktails.hmmm i think thats it for right now! I really want to buy the toasty toes and toasty hands and leave them out for the guest. Also see if my venue can bring out hot coco with dessert. I really wanted a wintery guest book idea but I cant think of any...any ideas???

    1) We're having candy legos on the tables so people can actually play with their food2) We're having 4 different types of cake and an icecream sundae bar so its more like a dessert tasting3) I'm making my FI a boutineer from a venus fly trap (its a surprise and inside joke that he'll love)4) we're doing the quotes from our first dance song on the napkin rings
