Gown Shopping...

Hi Girls--Wondering where to go bridal gown shopping in the Boston/ Metro West area.  I am so excited after watching marathons of "say yes to the dress" but I have no idea where to go around here!  My budget is small (less than $3000 with alterations) so we'll probably check our Vows/ Bridal Power unless you gals think its a waste of time...Suggestions needed!

I had a good experience at Camilla's in Arlington.  I don't think a $3k budget is small (well, maybe at Priscilla's or something), but you will find plenty of beautiful options, do don't worry.  I've heard good things about Vows, but I've never been.

That's the same budget I had. I bought my dress at Sabella Couture (their dresses are way under that price point).  You probably can't go to Vera Wang with that budget, but there are a ton of stores in the area that you can get a gorgeous dress at for that price. I've heard good things about Vows from the other girls on the board.

I had a great experience at Precious Memories in Malden!  I think their gowns are cheaper though, like under $1500.  I *love* their Maggie Sottero dresses.

Both my FSIL's bought their gowns at Vows, and had a phenomenal experience. I was going to look there, pretty much exclusively, but ended up finding my gown completely unextectedly at a consignment shop (Good Will did a Budget Brides convention earlier this year).

FUN!  I don't think your budget is small.  I bought my dress at Priscilla's for less than that, and you can DEFINITELY get a gorgeous dress for less than that (a LOT less than that if you get a steal!)  :)  I can't really suggest any places to go bc I found my dress online, instantly fell in love with it, saw it was a Vineyard Collection, and basically went straight to POB to buy it *grin*  Totally have fun shopping and keep an open mind.  Even though I *thought* I knew what I wanted, and ended up buying exactly that, I tried on lots of other dresses in totally different styles, as well as similar styles in different fabrics and was amazed at how big of a difference the different fabrics had to the overall look of the gowns.  Almost every girl I know ended up getting something that was totally different from what she thought she wanted.  Good luck!
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

My budget was similar to yours, and I found my dress at Ana Hernadez on Newbury St.  She makes the dress custom so alterations, etc. are all included in the price.  You just need to commit to several fittings (I think I had about 7).  Love her!

I second Precious Memories in Malden.  They have a lot of nice dresses that are under $1200.  If you end up going there, have Josephine to help you.  She does the alterations there and is wonderful.   Good luck!
