J Crew and Ann Taylor Bridesmaid dresses

Doesn't anyone know if J Crew or Ann Taylor bridesmaid dresses are true to size?  I just wanted to see if I could help my bridesmaids out with needing less alterations.  Utimately I would like to find a reasonable price dress for my five bridesmaids to wear that won't cost a lot of money and/or could possibly wear again.

I am wearing a J crew Brides maid dress and they can run small according to the cut and style. I went up a size to an 8 because I am tall and it was fitted for those that are 5'4 not 5'11. This weekend on Cape Cod

I am not sure about Ann Taylor.

From the girls here who've gotten dresses from JCrew, they have said that they are very good with returns, so if your girls order two sizes, they can easily return the one that doesn't fit.

One of DH's cousins is going with her BMs to Macy's and having them pick out dresses from there.

My BMs are wearing J Crew dresses and I'm really happy with them. Like PP said they are very good with returns. I found they ran true to size, with the exception of bustier girls-- my one sister had to go up to accommodate the girls. You can try on almost all of the styles at the J Crew in Chestnut Hill, which is awesome (FYI you can even just show up without an appointment, they will put you in the Crew Cuts fitting room for more privacy.)

Also, if you order during 'final sale' things are normally not returnable, but if you call to order and say it's for the wedding they will allow returns. If you have time you can wait for at least a 20% off all dresses sale.

I have tried on the Ann Taylor ones but they were always a little boxy for me, and maybe ran a little big.

I got this bridesmaid dress from Ann Taylor for my RD that fit true to size.  If you do order online most of the dresses have to be returned by mail, not in store.

Agree, AT runs true to size. I bought extra dresses for ladies who were uncertain though and then returned them. Not a single gal needed alterations. Another great thing is you can get them on sale.  For example, if you order them today you can get the tail end of their 40\% off sale (have to order 3 items or more).
