Invitation Timeline

Our wedding is July 31, 2010. I was originally thinking I'd send Invitations mid April. Now I am thinking that May is alright... is that too late? Too early?

Thanks!

How much leadtime do you need to give final numbers to your venue? May is the earliest I would go. We sent ours out 8 weeks in advance with an RSVP date a month before, but that was only because we didn't want the RSVPs to get lost in the Christmas shuffle (which some did anyways).

    Did you send out STDs?

The general etiquette is 8 weeks ahead of time if you did not send out STDs and at least 6 weeks if you did.

If you have a lot of OOT folks, then I would definitely aim for 8-10 weeks to give them time to plan and make arrangements.  So, going by your schedule, middle of May should be just fine.

Our wedding is June 19, and the goal is to send them the first week of April.  I need to get my caterer the number a month before, so I figured this will give people over a month to respond.

that sounds pretty good. My real concern is simply I am getting near exam time in law school and I don't have time to worry about this. So my goal is to get everything (wording, meals) to my invitation maker soon and then not send them until exams end May 15.

Our wedding is July 4, 2010, response date is May 30 (because we need to turn numbers in 30 days in advance) and we plan to mail invites out around May 10.
