Red Lion Inn, Cohasset, MA review

Hi Girls,

I booked with them back in Nov 2008. My wedding was July 10, 2010 and my family and I are still so shocked at how we were treated in the weeks leading up to our wedding day and on our wedding day. It's a beautiful venue but the staff and coordinator are VERY unprofessional and the coordinator Elizabeth has been, "working in the wedding business for 25 years."

Here's a few of the big problems we had...

Brides pay attention to your bills....
Our bill was wrong 4 times.

On one of the mistakes I found, she said it was their mistake and they will add it to the bar limit we had for cocktail hour. My dad asked for a refund cuz it was there mistake. I show up the day before the wedding to her sitting with my bill in front of my in laws (who were not paying and my parents didn't want them to know how much the wedding cost) saying are you ready to talk about the bill? I was like no I'm not and in front of everyone she said, "your dads not gettig that refund." Really why because for 3 weeks you didn't have an explaination for that money and now all of a sudden you came up with one....?

She had all friday from 4:30 on because of set up and the rehearsal to talk to my dad about the bill.

25 years in the wedding business she felt it was appropriate to pull him aside 1/2 hour before the wedding ceremony to tell him he's not getting that money back.

THEN

As soon as we got married the whole BP had toasting flutes, celebrating, and she walks up to my husband of 2 minutes and says, "I gave Kevin (FOB) the bill and he's not happy but whatever." WHATEVER????? He just gave you thousands of dollars!!!!!!!!

Then her little sidekick comes up to us and starts asking us which table the parents were sitting at, first of all we gave you all this info monday, second, we just got married, we're not thinking about tables.

The bars at cocktail hour kept switching within minutes to open and cash....even though we had a bar limit they should have all been open.

They yelled at us and gave us the run around about adding on an extra hour because we were late after formal pictures and I was pulled off the dance floor 3 times to get attitude from one of the staff.

Those are the large things. HTH someone cuz it almost ruined our day but we're trying not to let it.

Interesting.  Feel free to read my review if you like. It took us several tries to get the bill correct (it was finally correct the day before the wedding).  The planning process and turnover of staff was very frustrating, but our day of was fantastic. I had no issues with Elizabeth (she and Sacha wee able to make right many of the problems I experienced early on), but I do feel that the different branches of what is a very small inn don't always communicate well with each other (accounting, events, and innkeeper). This was (is) a bit difficult for me to understand.

I had a few other snafus (in the review), but, in the final analysis, the venue and food were worth the added aggravation...although I wish they'd find my guest books.  They were lost following my reception and were never recovered. They were very obviously custom-printed photo books, so I'm sure they're still floating around somewhere; I don't think anyone on staff would have thrown them out. I just wish someone cared enough to really look around the inn (on bookcases, etc.).  Neither my husband or I never saw them, which makes me very sad.  I live in Chicago, otherwise I'd turn the place upside down myself.

I'm sorry to hear that. I got married last October there and had a few frustrations in terms of communication at the end but overall I was happy with them and our wedding went off without a hitch.  Elizabeth was not my coordinator though as Denice was.  Elizabeth doesn't sound too great though
