How far in advance did you book your make-up and hair stylist? Also, any one you particularly like?

I'm really picky with my hair and want to make sure I find someone with a great personality and will come to me on my wedding day. Also, don't wear  make-up normally so need someone who will do a nice job but not put to much to make me not  look my self. Any advice will be helpful.
Thanks, Erica

I worked with Special Event Beauty. They were really awesome to work with and I highly recommend them. They do both hair and makeup and will come to you on the wedding day.

I booked them in August '09 for my June '10 wedding.

I think I booked my hair and make-up people about 6 months out.  That was a big mistake.  I also wanted someone to come to my venue for convenience and pretty much everyone I emailed (who were recommended on the boards) was booked already.  Ours was a Sat in August, so one of the busier days.  If you are on a Sat, I'd start looking ASAP and book as soon as you find someone you want.

My other piece of advice:  do your trials before you sign a contract.  I didn't, I booked based on their portfolios and then did the trials about 6 weeks before the wedding.  That was a HUGE mistake, I ended up not liking both and canceling 2 weeks before the wedding.  Luckily my amazing wedding planner was able to find me awesome people at the last minute, but it was really stressful.

We used Gina Joubert for hair and Girly Junk for makeup.  Booked both maybe 8 months in advance for a Friday night wedding. Reviews and pics for both in bio.

We booked Special Event Beauty in December 09 for our Oct 10 wedding.  I have my first trial back in Dec and then a second one about 6 weeks ago.  I wanted a company that would to the house to do all the hair and makeup for the girls and they did a great trial and have awesome reviews on here.

I booked Robin (make-up) from Faces By Robin and Kristine England (hair--recommended by Robin) about 2-3 weeks before our wedding. I pretty much never wear make-up, and told Robin that and that I wanted to be comfortable.  She listened to me, and did an amazing job.  Like, I said I didn't want to wear foundation bc I find it to be uncomfortable (I feel like I'm wearing a mask), and she obliged--good thing too bc it rained a lot on our wedding day, and I would have been sad if I ended up with foundation running down my face!  LOL..

    I PMed you back!  :)

I'm using From Hair to Eternity, Carolina Velasco. I already booked it, almost 10 months in advance.
