Engagement Photos

I am trying to decide if engagement photos are worth it...all of the knot photo articles say yes but I don't think a lot of my friends got them.

We had them done. We used them for our guest book, and personally, it's nice to have a few non-wedding photos to display in the house.

We got them done. It was included in our photo package. We wanted to work with our photographer before the wedding day and our parents wanted nice pictures of us that weren't wedding pictures.

We got them done and thought it was worth it.  We also used them in our guest book, which I thought was a nice touch, and like pp said it's nice to have some good non-weddings photos of you.  Plus I found having the e-pics done a lot of fun.

We weren't as concerned about working with our photographer beforehand, but I know a bunch of couple have used the e-pics as a trial run to see how they mesh with the photographer and if there are any issues upfront.    HTH!

We didn't get them done, and I kind of regret it.
I love my wedding photo's.  We're both pretty comfy in front of the camera so for me, that wasn't the issue.  I do wish we had a few non wedding formal pictures though.

I was very happy that we did ours cause it gave us time to work with our photographer before the wedding.

I regret not doing it, it would have given us a good opportunity to work with our photographer and get some non-formal photos.

I say it's worth it. My husband might disagree.

     - You're in your physical prime. Judging from your screen name, you still have your youth. You could wait until losing any extra pounds, but what about the glowing skin, energy and radiance you have now? Capture it. My photos weren't the best, but one day when I'm losing hair and teeth, I'll probably think I looked damn good in those e-pics. Yes, I am vain. =)

    - As the ladies have mentioned, it's a good chance to work with your photographer. My husband learned from our e-pic experience that he didn't like certain things about our photographer. For example, he disliked EVERY close-up photo she took of him. We were able to give specific instructions for the wedding: Please don't take closeup photos of him. Done.

Hope that gives some perspective. It's not the end of the world without the photos either. You certainly will have plenty from your wedding day. It's just nice to also have photos in non-wedding attire, non? Photos of the both of you in more natural setting doing things that come natural to you.

We did them and absolutely loved the whole experience. Ours were free, but we were planning on doing them anyway. We have some great shots with Boston in the background that we're planning on blowing up and putting around our apartment.

We got them done.  It was good to work with the photographer beforehand, plus we really had fun doing it. The best part is the amazing pics we ended up with though!

We got them done and it was totally worth it! We used the pics for our save the dates, our enagement announcement in the paper and we are going to use one of the pictures for the photo frame guest book at the wedding. I agree with PP too that it is going to be nice to have some professional pictures of us in the house that aren't from the wedding.

We actually had ours done last night.  I haven't seen the finished photos yet, but I'm so happy we did them.  FI can be a little goofy and nervous in front of a camera, so it gave us a good chance to work with the photographer and have him get to know us.  I'm so excited to see the final product.

And, as pp said, we don't have any nice professional photos of us, and it's going to be great to have some non-wedding shots.

We had ours done last night too! And we had a BLAST!!! I saw a few of the pics and I am in love with them already. Our photographer is so awesome and fun. She took some great shots of FI and I. I cannot WAIT to see the finished product.

so IMO I feel they are totally worth it. Will be nice to have some non wedding photos displayed in the house like a PP said and also we are using the Signature Frame for our guestbook and it will be nice to have one of the pics in that. Ours was also part of or photography package.

Loved them, so glad we did them!  They did a few things:

    1) we got comfortable with our photograher, learned how to relax in front of the camera and what types of photos we liked/didn't like.

    2) got some *amazing* photos of us in a different setting (Boston Public Gardens).  I know we'll display some wedding photos in the house, but as another poster said, it is nice to also have non-wedding attire photos as well.

    3) we used ours for save the dates, guestbook, on our wedding website and for some table number signs.

It was totally worth it.  Actually, we did 2 engagement photo shoots (winter and spring) and we're probably also doing a trash the dress shoot.  I'm kind of a photography addict.
