Shoes - please help

Ok so here is the deal.... I am 5'3".  I always wear high heels.  People are amazed that i can wear them all day - I'm talking 3.5-4.5" heels.  So I bought various wedding shoes on endless.com (great website!) and decided on a pair of calvin klein in a champagne pink.  I wore them around.  They feel good.  I go to my fitting, they feel good.  Then the alterations woman measures my heels at the end and they are almost 4.5".  I think I'll be OK but I'm worried that they could end up hurting half way through the night so I want ALL the tips that you girls can provide -

How often should I wear the shoes to fully break them in?
What types of gel pads etc should I buy?
How about non slip pads?
And if worst case, I need them off before end of the night - where can I find platform flip flops (even if not exact height)?

Thanks ladies - I appreciate all your advice.  I don't know why I'm so worried but this is one area where I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Ok here is a confession from a constant maid of honor LOL yes I do live the 27 dresses life ( pretty much), but finally i am a bride too.....  Wear the shoes you like... have a back up pair, for dancing etc. they can be heals or not, but make sure they are WELL broken in to so it will not be noticed.
At one wedding, the bride handed out flipflops to all of the women and we had a kick our heals off ceremony, and just danced the rest of the night in the flipflops, we were all about 4 glasses of wine or beer in so at point it was ALL about fun!

I wore 4" heels to my wedding, and while they were comfortable every single time I wore them to break them in, on the day of they were killing my feet. I wore them from home to pictures, and through the ceremony and then more pictures, and then absolutely had to take them off. I was actually barefoot during our first dance :)

So, I would wear them as much as you can until you are confidant they will be ok. And definitely buy a pair of flip flops or something (I found some that were a couple of inches high, so I didn't trip over my dress) just to have. And also, MAKE SURE someone puts them under your table at the reception, because my poor MOH ran all over the hotel looking for mine after dinner. If I had known she was doing that, I would have just stayed barefoot.

I also wore very high heels, I wore them a few times at home to break in a little. BUT you don't want to break them in too much because you want them to look nice in the pictures! I brought gel inserts along with me, but I never used them (they are in my for sale in bio, if you want them for half off).
I bought flip flops on Amazon- they were much better, cheaper and more comfortable than the ones I saw at the 'bridal' shoes stores online.

I'm wearing high platforms too and have a pair of my favorite heels that are comfortable as my back up (they're a tad shorter). I had originally bought these really cute sequined ballet flats but the height difference is too great and my dress will drag (like 4").

Once you're dancing, dirt isn't the issue, it's people stepping on you. I hadn't really thought of that when I fell in love with my wedding shoes and my seamstress burst my bubble when she brought it to my attention. I'm glad she did because I'm having my dress hemmed to the height of my comfortable heels instead of my platforms. It's just 1/4" difference and you can't really tell but if she had hemmed it to my platforms, the dress would drag.

Moral of the story, I recommend having your back up shoes with you when you get your dress hemmed.

    honestly- don't worry.

I never wear high heels anymore- they hurt and I am a wuss. I went with high heels with a SLIGHT platform to even me out. They felt fine in fittings but started hurting when I tried wearing them in. It was too late to do anything about it so I wore them the day of.

They hurt like hell walking down to the ceremony. After that? I don't remember the pain until I took them off that night. You won't notice! If you notice- its fleeting. Yes, I was sore for a couple days on the honeymoon but who cares? If you love em- buy some doctor scholls gel pads and don't worry! you will be too happy to notice.

I"m 5'1 and my fiance is 6'9, I feel your pain!! I wear heels like that all the time and I find that if I just wear them around the house while vacumming, things like that, more then just sitting in them..they break in pretty well. and those new super thin gel insoles from dr scholls are also awesome.
