Riverview / Hudson Portuguese Club review

I had my wedding back in June and never gave this place a review, but wanted to let you all know about my experience.

When I first saw this place, I loved it. The grounds were nice, great room, option to book rooms that hold up to 600 guests, nice entry and great food at a reasonable price. I went for the family style so my guest could have as much as they wanted like a buffet, but didn't have to get up. Anyways, a couple of months before the wedding I had my food tasting. GREAT FOOD. My menu included salad, soup, green beans, roasted potatoes, seafood rice, pork tenderloins and chicken marsala. Everything was awesome...5 stars

Now let's fast forward to the wedding. As far as the room and everything else, it was good...only because I set everything up myself ( I have OCD and didn't want anyone to mess my shiz up). Appetizers were all good. Soup came out - Now, the soup is called 'Calde Verde', for those of you not familiar with Portuguese food, this is a thinly creamed potato broth with kale and linguica. The soup they served me at the tasting was awesome, the day of..I'm pretty sure they used close to zero potatoes, if any, not sure if there was linguica in it and they even added onions. Whatever, I'll let it slide. Salad - fine...who can F that up anyways. Dinner?...where is dinner? around 45 minutes between salad and dinner?! ARE YOU SERIOUS? Finally the food comes. Most of the people at the wedding said the food was served luke warm to cold. The seafood rice that I RAVED about for months to various people was less than impressive. The rice was supposed to be that orange-yellow saffron rice; well it was a pale yellow and tasteless. It had seafood in it, mainly squid and barley any little necks, IF ANY. I never really got to eat any of it cause I was walking around thanking people and they decided to take all food off the table. But my Mom told me the green beans weren't that great, potatoes were good..and the chicken marsala had no mushrooms, I think?

My mother called about 5 times after the wedding. The woman took down all her complaints, GM called back, but didn't really have anything to say....

Best advice would be - If you book this place, get an outside caterer. The rent will be a lot higher than if you used their caterer, but at least you'll have better food.
