Calligrapher

Can anyone recommend one that isn't a fortune? I also found a computer calligrapher in Burlington-Classic Calligraphy. Does anyone know anything about her? Thanks for any help!

I'm curious, what is computer calligraphy?  Do they just print on the envelopes in a calligraphy font?  If so, I did this myself at home for free and it came out really nice!  FI has a nice printer that didn't mar the envelopes.

    Anyway, good luck!

sorry- i havent used that company but I can see computer calligraphy looks fine.

Noodle- yea- its just printed with high quality ink in a calligraphy or script style font. Our printer isn't great and uses a tone of ink so it was more cost effective for us to pay a printer. We would have spent more on ink!

I used afineletter.com - I found the pricing reasonable and the work and response time to be excellent.

I used Astrid at www.astridelizabethcalligraphy.com and she was a doll to work with & her work was beautiful.  I don't know how her pricing compares, though, to be honest -- she's a friend of a friend and I wasn't actually looking for calligraphy until she was recommended to me.

The company who did my invites used computer calligraphy on my escort cards and invite envelopes. It was so much more convenient (and less frustrating) than feeding those itsy bitsy envelopes through our home printer. It was done in a very thin calligraphy font and you can't tell that they were done by computer (well unless you get it up really close. lol).

Thanks ladies! I'll look into all of these. Computer calligraphy works for me if it's less expensive. I'd rather pay than deal with printer problems and with my luck a big disaster!

Hi!  I actually used Priscilla from Classic Calligraphy...it's kind of hard to explain but it actually isn't computer calligraphy.  she uses a drafting machine that has been modified to be able to be used for calligraphy.  it's this thing maybe 1.5 ft square that sits on a desk and is hooked up to a computer.  there is an "arm" on the machine that holds a pen that uses actual ink.  the computer has the names and addresses stored on it and it communicates with the "arm" to write on the envelopes.  that probably made no sense at all, but i just wanted you to know that although it's hooked up to a computer, the envelopes are not printed on a printer - they are written with real pen and ink -  they are just not hand-written.  she has about 10 different fonts you can choose from as well as different colors and different widths of the pen.  i thought it looked a lot more like hand-written calligraphy than computer calligraphy.  when i talked to her the first time she tried to explain the system to me and offered to show it to me if I went to her home, so i did that before actually  booking her.  she was really great to work with and had 115 envelopes back to me within a few days!  you also can't beat her prices!  sorry if i wrote a book, i just was thrilled with her work and highly recommend her!   let me know if you have any other questions...

Just a thought-computer calligraphy cannot compete w/hand done work.  If you're worried about prices, check out Melanie at www.afineletter.com. I'll guarantee she can beat the prices you've found and she is WONDERFUL  to work with!
