Have you talked to him since receiving these shots? What sort of contract did you have with him? Is there any recourse to at least get some money back?

Wow that is really terrible! I'd be curious to know what his reaction is.

I understand that you'd probably not want to share, but I am curious to know what this photographers price range is. I mean, its not as if it would matter a whole lot seeing as the pictures from guests that were free look better. I don't know if it helps at all, but my H is a photographer and he says that the pictures could be greatly improved by some editing and that maybe you could find a photographer or someone who works with graphics would be willing to up the quality a bit.

monique, I am curious as to where you found this guy and how much he charged. Honestly, the pics on his site are not impressive either. Anyone can say they have years and years of experience, but if the quality isn't there to show for...well....you get what you pay for. If you paid a lot for this guy, I think you got swindled. If he was a craigslist-$500-for-everything deal (which there are many out there), I'm sorry, but you get what you pay for. Like pp said, if you can find someone to do some editing on them, that would probably help. Did you get hi res image files? Those would be necessary to get anything high quality done. Also, you'll have to look in your contract, this photog may have something in there about property rights regarding someone else editing his images. It's a pretty standard photography contract clause.

I'm a graphic designer, he gave me the high-res photos and there isn't much that can be done to save these. After receiving some advice I'm removing his info on here, so that when we file a small claims suit he can't come back at me with anything.

I asked for a refund of what amounted to less than half what we paid and he declines.

Well, at the very least if you take him to court maybe you can have the rights to the images turned over so that you can try and salvage them. They aren't horrible, just extremely under or over exposed and not very creative. At least changing the lighting in a program like Photoshop, or better Lightroom would at least make the two of you look better and less discolored. But, like Shaz said, it really sucks and I'm super sorry for this to happen to anyone but if it seems like you got a deal it might be because you get what you pay for. I hope it works out, I know that either way you can't go back in time which is unfortunate. Did you guys have E-pics with him done? Were they better then?

such a bummer! sadly the photos you shared look just like what is on his website... did you select this photog or a parent? his work is very outdated but some people still like that style i guess...

maybe do a rock the dress shoot with a more modern photog to make up for it?

    what did he charge?
