Cost of a Boston-area wedding planner?

Hey girls,
My sister was asked to be a wedding planner for a friend, but she has no idea what the going rate is.  She is super creative, artistic, crafty, and the queen of DIY.....she's handling most of the details of my wedding.  Anyway, this is NOT meant to be any type of PR for her, as she is not planning on making a business out of it.  If any of you used a wedding planner, could you let me know how they charged (per hour, flat fee, per task, etc). Thanks!!

If your sister is a friend of the bride... then I would naturally assume that your sister wouldn't charge the "going-rate" to be her wedding planner.

Taking all things into consideration, budget, venue, # of guests, date, time needed and all extras (there are just hundreds!!) She should go from there...

Depending on WHO is booked to plan your wedding prices can vary...

My calculation: The Budget is $30,000 ($20,000 on food/venue/bar) $2,000 attire for both/accessories 3,000 flowers/centerpieces 3,000 (extras-nails,transport ceremony... That leaves $2,000... does that seem to little? then you have to budget for that (if it was your wedding... what would you be spending your $ on...) it's all a guesstimate but you also don't want to offend the bride.
Your sister can also ask the bride what her budget is and idea and go from there...

this is a lot of info.. but hope at least SOME of it helps...
