help! need fun reception ideas for 30-45 guests

I hope to have up to 45 guests at our reception. I don't want to rent a big venue and a DJ, only to have it look empty, with no one dancing! I want my guests to have fun considering most people will be coming from out of state. Any ideas??!!

Do you want to stay IN Boston?

FI and I are throwing an "intimate wedding" with 20 pp so my dad can be present at our wedding. We're going aboard the Seaport Odyssey Cruise for a dinner time reception... I think they have like three yachts to choose from (if you want to go that route).

What about a restaurant with a private party room? With only 45 people you could probably find some cool places in the city, maybe a rooftop venue with a great view of the city?

I think a restaurant (with whatever flare you have going on at the wedding to match) would be awesome.  I would reccommend a cigar roller (with so few people, it wouldn't break the bank at all), but the restuarant wouldn't allow smoking in there....

    good luck!

I looked into several restaurants in the Boston area to host a small reception.  If your wedding will be in a month with good weather, check out Fiore in the North End.  They have a lovely banquet room as well as a nice roof deck/outdoor space.
