RSVP with plated meals?

Can I see yours?

We would really love to do a plated meal, but we haven't exactly decided what exactly meals we want (we know Chicken, Fish, and Beef are options).  Invites need to go out next week -- is it okay to just put those three meats and maybe explain the choices better later on on our website?  Did anyone find a way around cementing meal choices on their RSVPs in case plans change?  Any other possible solutions you've seen or experienced?

TIA!

I just read a question about this, but I can't remember which board. Personally, I like to know what the preparation is for each, and I'm sure it makes a difference to others as well. BUT, if you are doing pretty simple things with each (strip steak with potatoes, not pot roast, for example) it's not a big deal. I would, however, at least decide what type of fish. A lot of people only each certain kinds and feel strongly about that, so it would be much better for it to be Chicken, Beef or Salmon, or Chicken, Beef, or Shrimp... you get it.

Eh we just wrote "Beef/Chicken/Vegan" on the invites.   We had to finalize our invites two weeks ago and won't have our final meeting to decide on meal choices for another month or so.  I've received many invites like this and while I may prefer to know exactly what the choices are, I expect that sometimes these decisions aren't made until after invites are sent out.  It never really has an effect on my choice anyway.

We have the same problem.  We have picked what we think our menu will be but we haven't had the tasting yet so I don't want to give a full meal description in case we make a change.  Our RSVPs will say Filet Mignon, Salmon and Chicken.  I supposed that some people would maybe choose something different if they knew exactly how they were prepared but I dont' think it is a huge deal.

Thanks ladies!  I think I'll try to specify the type of fish and beef, but post the rest on our website once we've decided here in a few weeks. :)

We also did only beef/fish/vege choice, with no specification. We actually had little symbols for the different choices printed on the invitations, rather than the words (we got those from Paper Source, they were cute!).
In the information card, we asked our guests to specify eventual food issues/allergies.
