Wedding Dress Shops

I'm not really from Boston, but my family lives there now on the South side, and we are going dress shopping up there in September. Does anyone have advice, store suggestions (go to or not go to), sample sale info, etc that can help? We'd like to keep it under $1500. Thank you so much!

Vows is great for samples of designer dresses for not designer prices. You can see some of their stock online at bridepower.com. I've also read some positive reviews of Bridal Secret in Quincy (same concept as Vows).

I bought my dress at Sabella Couture in Boston proper. It's on Tremont St. right by the Common. Maria and Christina are wonderful to work with.

Try Confetti and Lace in Littleton - you should be able to find something there in your price range.

August 20th there is the running of Brides (Boston)- alittle crazy but you might get a good deal...all dresses are 300, 600, or 900   Good luck!

I went to Manhattan Bridal in Dedham as the first store and had a great experience!  Although I didn't end up buying my dress there, I highly recommend them!

I would recommend the store I eventually bought my dress in, but it closed last November :(

I really enjoyed my experience at Marry and Tux in Nashua, NH.  I bought my dress at Bridal Reflections in Watertown - they have great prices, but they only sell sample dresses.

I had a great experience at Amari Bridal in Franklin, MA.  My dress was just under $1000 and most dresses were in that price range.

I got my dress at David's bridal (huge regret) but I got my bridesmaids dresses at Precious memories in Malden (mentioned above) and they are fantastic.  I wish I went there instead.  They are doing my alterations.  I would def check them out they are really helpful and not at all pushy.

I got my dress at Bella Sera in Danvers and had a great experience there!  I've heard that Country Weddings in Hingham is really great too...I didn't go there since it was out of the way for me, but it could be close to your family...

Hillary's Bridal down in Plymouth.  I had tried on a few dresses in the shop in February & found a dress that I absolutely loved (& I'm not the kind of person that goes crazy over things like that).  I ended up purchasing a dress at the Brides Against Breast Cancer dress tour stop in Chestnut Hill in March (great price, no alterations needed, & $ went to a great cause), but I just could not get the other dress out of my mind.

About a month ago, they called me to let me know that they were having a sale.  After some time thinking about it, I ended up contacting the shop and talked with Emily.  I ended up talking a trip to Plymouth recently and placed an order for the dress that I've had on my mind for so many months.

The square footage of the shop is pretty small, but they have a wonderful selection and amazing customer service.  Two really nice things about Hillary's are that (1) you can see all of the dresses that they have in the shop right on their website & (2) you can take as many pictures of you in the dresses as you like (which was very helpful in my decision making).  The shop is pretty easy to get to from route 3 and there is a small parking area around the back/side of the building.

Although I only tried on Maggie Sottero dresses while I was there, all of them were only in the $700 range.

I went all over Boston, in 3 days and in NH.

Priscilla of Boston - what a joke, all dresses size 8 no exceptions way overpriced.

The place two people mentioned in Malden, I'm glad you had great experiences but when I was there in April the place was dirty, customer service was terrible one girl there she must have been very young and not helpful at all but when I seen a burn hole in one of the sample dresses we were out of there.

Danvers Bridal in Danvers was okay nothing great.

Marry Tux in NH many beautiful dresses but I felt like number not a bride, I felt rushed and the woman helping me would not let me show my girls until I decided which dress I liked then I could show them...not good for me.

Danvers Bridal in NH was excellent the service was wonderful they let you take pictures of dresses but I did not buy from there.

I bought a private label Michael Joseph for 1475.00 at Alexandra's Bridal in Fall River MA.  It was a  bit of a drive but worth it.  If you go there ask for Carol she is the best and tell her Teresa from Boston recommended her. I cannot say enough good things about the salon and about Carol.  She took the time to look through my book, see what kind of styles I liked and what would fit me.  First she let me look at the ones the salon did have that I thought I would like then after she said, I have just the dress for you" and she brought out the private label one, it was the dress for me.  We also got out bridesmaids dresses there and they have free alterations for bridesmaids dresses that are bought there, not on the wedding gowns though.

I am very happy with my dress, once it comes in I will post it here.

I had fantastic luck at NY Lace in Taunton. They were super helpful and had the designers I was looking for - and when I asked about alterations it sounds like they charge flat rates, no matter how many times they have to take it in/redo the bustle, etc. Very Excited!!!
