Newbie-- Wedding Day Survival Kit?

Hey Ladies,

This is my first time posting. My wedding isn't until October, but my sister's is in July, and we're having her bridal shower next weekend. I wanted to put together something kind of special/funny for her, and I was thinking of doing a "wedding day surivival kit" with all sorts of things that would help her get through her big day. She's been stressing out a lot about her job AND her wedding, and I just want her to be able to relax the day of her wedding. I was hoping you ladies could help me come up with ideas for items I could put together for her--funny, sentimental, practical, anything you wish you had/couldn't have gone without on the day of your wedding??

Thanks so much ladies!

Hi and welcome! I did something similar for my BMs, I gave them little gift baggies full of things that they could put in their clutches for the wedding day (if they wanted to).  I stocked them up with chapstick, Tic Tacs, Ricolas, safety pins, bobby pins, bandaids (for heels), travel size tissue packets, nail file, and hershey kisses for a little sugar rush. I am so glad we had safety pins on hand because my bustle came out as soon as I sat down to eat, and a safety pin held my dress up for the next 4 hours.

Those were more practical things but you could maybe think of a couple sentimental things, too.

And, um, I just did a double take at your SN. What's up, lady? ;)

How fun that you and your sister are getting married so close to each other! PP has a lot of good suggestions. You could include a nice handkerchief embroidered with their initials and wedding date-- I say that because I not so secretly hope that someone gives me something like that. Maybe some kind of relaxing aromatherapy item, like an essential oil or candle.

Other practical things include white chalk (to cover up a mark on her dress),  Static Guard, clear nail polish, especially if she is wearing stockings, mini sewing kit (but really the safetey pins would be what you need anyway), mini floss sticks, small compact/mirror.

One note--Be careful with the hershey's kisses that it never sits in the sun somewhere. I melted chocolate in my good bag like that once and almost cried.

Edit-- and even better, you can offer to carry it and store it on her big day, so she doesn't have to worry about where the safety pins are :)

I did this for my sister and I found a TON of great resources online.  Just google "wedding day survival kit" and you'll find a lot of great lists.  I went to the Christmas Tree Shops and got a lot of great deals.  She didn't use all of the things obviously so it was passed down to my SIL and then to me and next year, my cousin.  I'm thrilled it's gotten so much use!
