Makeup artist help

Hi Ladies-

I am in the process of scoping out a makeup artist for my 6/10 wedding and am sticker-shocked with the bm application cost. Brides makeup incl trial, lash app and travel is $160 which seems very reasonable, but she charges $75 for everyone else.

Is this too much? Would it be weird if I used her for my makeup and searched for someone a little more cost effective for the bms?

Any help or referrals would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm using Special Event Beauty and if you have 5+ people geting MU or hair done, their prices are cheaper than that.
For the bride it's $100 for day-of makeup including lashes. Everyone else is $55.

Honestly that doesn't sound too far off-base.  Yours is about double what everyone else's is, which is sort of normal for wedding world.

We used Girly Junk for makeup and I think it was $60 per person (bride, BM, whoever) for her to come to us at the hotel where we were getting ready.  We didn't get lashes, but your quote still seems a bit high to me.  The BM price isn't too ridiculous compared to others, but I feel like the bride price is.

If you're interested, my review and trial pics are in my bio.

We're talking make up only, right?  If so, I'd agree with other posters that the BM price actually seems fairly average, but the bridal price is very high compared to what I paid.  I used Charlotte Phinney (www.charlottephinney.com), and believe that I paid $90 for airbrush makeup and eyelash application-- as did all my girls.  There was no charge for travel within a 30 minute radius of MUA's location.

I guess I'd want to know what she was doing for you that is so vastly different from your bridesmaids that she feels over a 100% upcharge is justified.  Was your trial included at that price? Does it suggest a lack of time to be spent on your BMs? I might be able to better understand a higher charge for bridal hair (complicated updo, veil placement, etc.), but this bridal make up pricing seems a bit excessive.

Your MUA may be great, but I guess I'd just want to know what you as a bride will be getting for the significantly larger price you're paying.

That price was what I found when I looked for make-up.

I paid $150 for me, and everyone else paid $75.  When I looked it seemed to be $100-200 for the bride and $50-100 for everyone else (in general), so those prices seem normal for Boston.

Thanks for all the feedback!  I'll still do some shopping around, but it seems likemy quote is somewhat the norm...just to answer, the bride prices includes trial, lash app and travel as well.

I'm working with Brea from Make up by Brea (she's great!).

Her rates are $35 for trial; $75 for bride, $25 for eyelashes and $50 for everyone else.

She travels to you and charges a very very low rate for the travel. Good luck!

Hey, i also used Girly Junk and it was $60 for everyone. Lashes were free and I actually had 2 makeup trials to try out different looks. I had Sam and Robin come to the hotel and I wasn't charged any additional fees as they had a wedding earlier in the day in Boston. They were fabulous, quick, and the makeup lasted all night long.

    Good luck.

DmKane,  I think the bridal price is fair, considering it includes a trial.  Mine did not-- the trial was billed separately.
