  • I'll still see it because Hugh Jackman is Jean but that makes me sad.
  • I LOVE Amanda Seyfried though.  Ugh.

Me too. She has a beautiful voice.

    Pass on TS though.

  • It's actually perfect.....Taylor Swift made a name for herself singing "woe is me" songs about guys.....On My Own is right up her alley.
  • I don't see Hugh Jackman as Valjean.  He's not...I don't know...big enough.?  Old enough?  I'm not sure what the problem is in my mind.  I picture Valjean very Sean Connery-like.  But I do love me some Hugh Jackman.  I'd love to see it, but I really think I'd be too pissed about TS.  I keep the soundtrack in my cd changer in the car, that's how often I listen to it.

  • What.  No effing way.  She's too clean and pretty for Eponine.  I always pictured her as a brunette who was a little on the mousey side, but still cute enough for you to root for.

    Curse you, Hollywood.

I totally see Valjean as Sean Connery-like! But I have high hopes for Jackman because he is very talented and Valjean ages like, 30 years over the course of the show. So he can't look too old in his "young" years.
I don't see Taylor Swift as having the emotional depth to play Eponine. Her "woe is me" songs just don't seem real enough to me. I like her well enough, but I would have wanted someone less "fluffy."

Les Mis is my favorite musical EVAR and I was totally Mme Thenardier in my high school's production.
  • omg Natrasha, once I got over my middle school uber-romantic self, Mme. Thenardier was totally my fave, and I always wanted to play her!

Agreed. She seems like a nice girl, and I can dig that she writes her own music, at least. But her singing? peeeeeee-yewwwwww
  • I don't really find she can act either. She was really bad in Valentine's Day.

I love Les Mis.  I love Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, and even Anne Hathaway.  But... I'm not in to this movie.  Gimme Colm Wilkinson.

EDIT: Wait, Russel Crowe as Javert?
  • Oh, this makes me sad. Cry

  • I didn't realize that Amanda Seyfried was a classically trained opera singer.  That's pretty sweet.

I'm not a huge Glee person so I don't really care about Lea Michelle not getting the part, but she does look more like an Eponine to me.  Will TaySwift dye her hair?

  • So they're going to turn it into an episode of SNL? Because that's the only time I've seen Taylor Swift act (including her music videos) and didn't want to barf.
  • I must be very un-cultured as I know NOTHING about what Les Miserables is about.

  • I'm super late to this party, but that gave me the sads as well.

Also, the comment in that article about how Anne Hathaway is only 3 years older than Amanda Seyfried...well, sure.  why not?  Her character dies pretty much immediately after giving birth, so why shouldn't she be the same-ish age as the actor who plays grown up Cosette...
  • Horrible and so disappointing.

  • Can any of them really sing?  It is a musical not a Hollywood film....  Oh wait never mind.

Yes, Hugh Jackman is a very talented singer and dancer. Watch the Oklahoma with him in it.

Hugh Jackman is a legit broadway star.  I think Amanda Sigfried has opera training.  She didn't sound terrible in Mamma Mia.
