I'm not sure who is around right at the moment, but I'm hoping that one of our baking knotties can link me in the direction of a good red velvet cupcake recipe?

 

I'm having a zombie dinner party for my birthday this year and want to make something like this:

DH made them from a mix for my bday last year, so I'm no help with recipes.  They're yummy, though!

And hmm, well, no help from packet mixes here as we don't have red velvet cupcakes. I only know of their existence because of the web! I've never actually seen one in the flesh before.

have used this recipe before, but I used a different frosting recipe. They came out pretty good, although I really am not the biggest fan of red velvet, so I just took other people's word for it.

Sun- Those cupcakes kinda freak me out a little bit, I'm not gonna lie...lol.

Haha I know mags, I showed them to H and he was repulsed and said he's not eating them! 

 

I am still yet to figure out what to do for entree and mains. Thanks for those suggestions, girls. Looking now. The one you posted Ricks looks good as it's so similar to what I need (with cream cheese frosting, I mean). 

 

Question: if I made these a day early, would the frosting keep in the fridge? 

I haven't used cream cheese frosting before.

Sun- a my cousin goes all out for Halloween and has fixed some very fun and tasty Halloween food things over the years. One of my favorites was super easy, but very cute, and here is a similar recipe.

Yes. Make the cupcakes and frosting the day before, if you can, and then frost the cakes the day of.

Also Martha and Epicurious might have some nice ideas for your party.

Definitely make the cupcakes and frosting the day before. Cream cheese icing is what I put on most of my cupcakes, the link ang put up is a good one.
