No wedding ring?

I really love my engagement ring and don't feel the need to get an additional wedding band.  Is anyone else foregoing the wedding band altogether?  Is there some important sentimental purpose for the second ring that I'm missing?

So, I'm not even engaged yet, but I am not planning on getting a wedding band. My question is a little different: 

What do you do at the ceremony when you exchange rings?? Do you just take off the engagement ring and have him put that back on your finger? I have always wondered how we will take care of that part of the ceremony when I will in fact not have a ring to put on?
