Vegas Caesars Wedding in May

Gratuity is highly highly encouraged for coordinator, musician, officient, photographer, AND videographer. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on these numbers! Please help! I have aread a couple articles online and so far I was thinking this: Coordinator: $60 Officient: $40 musician: $20 Photographer: $40 and videographer: $40. Thats $200 in tips!

That's crazy when I'm already spending SO MUCH ON THIS. What have you guys done? Is this too much? Too little??

I'm concerned...help!

Thank you

Re: Vegas Caesars Wedding in May

  • Whether to tip or not is not the issue, its how much to tip. I'm GOING to tip for sure, but I'm unsure of the amount ettiquite.

We are getting married at the Flamingo in April, i didnt even consider tipping anyone you mentioned as its all included in our package. We did hire an outside photographer who we plan on tipping.
  • unfortunately tips are not included in ours. My coordinator made it clear to me in the beginning :( you're lucky yours is!
  • I'm not a fan of tipping the photographer or videographer until I see the final work.  That is because my brother did tip them and the prints were down right awful.  I don't even like my SIL and I felt so bad for her this guy was so bad.

I decided to buy prints from the photographer directly even though it was more than other places as a "tip.

As far as the other amounts.  It depends.

Our officiant charged us $600 + hotel ($250 per night).   We met him the day before.   We didn't feel the need to tip him anything additional.

Musicians - we tipped them each $20.    DJ we tipped more, but I forget how much.

Coordinator - we tipped a lot more.  But he had a lot of work to do with our wedding.  Then a tropical storm hit so there were other things going on that made us want to show him we appreciate his work.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Are you sure tipping is included in the package? That doesn't really make sense, since a gratuity by nature is a reward for good service.

It didnt say it was included, i just didnt consider tipping. The officiant requires a "tip" of $75 to perform the services. Most of the vegas brides who have gone thru the hotels with wedding packages seem to have not tipped anything within the wedding package, and only have tipped the other vendors like photographer, hair and makeup etc. Guess ill have to look into it

I would consider tipping them. They work hard. Just because other people didn't doesn't mean that they were correct.

OP- We are giving our venue coordinator $100 because we know she's going to have a lot on her plate. We are giving our officiant $50 and donating $50 to the church. Not sure if that helps.

  • Thanks you guys :)

Unfortunately, the Vegas wedding thing is so "all inclusive" that they are also already getting a huge cut of the total cost. It's one lump sum including all coordintor duties, the music, photos, video, AND officient. so, everything is already "paid for" however...it says clearly on teh even order, does not include gratuity. therefore, I'm trying to research how much more is needed. I understand that people tip the lowest to the musician, then the photo and video, then the offient, then the coordinator for putting it all together.

I must also add that the ONLY person I have actually met and delt with in the whole thing is the coordinator. She is wonderful and I'm writing a thank you, getting a little gift and a tip for her. The rest of these people helping are people I speak to on the phone in about a month from now and tell them what I want/dont want, then they perform the duties during the ceremony (30 min long total)

Since it is all already finished and planned for me and I never actually "hired" any of them, I'm hsitant to plan a big gratuity although there most definately WILL BE a tip for each of these people. I just wasnt sure how much is necessary. 20? 40? I'm thinking I like the amounts I posted in the original post, but I may take into consideration +/- based on how each of them did

Does anyone know a minimum for a vegas wedding? Does anyone know someone they can ask for me who has done a vegas wedding similar to mine? I'll have to ask my coordinator which I'd rather not do since she is one of them getting tipped. I'm just afraid she's going to say 15% -20% or something...which make no sense since it was all inclusive and there is no break down for each service.

    does that make sense?

    thanks again!!

if you go to the vegas board, there is a lot of good information regarding all of your questions.

this is the answer i just got from the mod for your question-
I wouldn't tip Imagine after you see their prices.  Typically the piano player and officiant will be hired contractors so if they do a good job, it would be nice to tip them because they don't like get paid all that much by Flamingo.  If your coordinator does a good job, tipping isn't mandatory but probably appreciated, or you could just get them a small gift, I'm sure they like those as well.  They're on salary so they don't make a living off tips.

  • Thank you!! That is helpful :) I'll keep asking around to get more opinions on it, but that makes me feel better knowing that your flamingo people arent expecting too much from you. :)

Seems to me that your total tip would be 20 percent of the total, spread around to the workers. If it is $10000, then you have $2000 total to spread around, dependent upon how much each person did.
  • Are you insane? I'm not paying hundreds of dollars to someone that played 5 songs on the piano for 20 minutes that I've never met before the wedding AFTER paying THOUSANDS for the wedding package which they already got $$ from. (probably very little from)

<div>the total for the wedding is MUCH more than the services provided. Its for the rental of the space, the limo, the room included for two nights, the floral...so it wouldnt make sense to tip on the total cost. </div>

Uh, no. Not insane, thanks very much. Subtract out the room cost then. Figure 20% of the balance. Distribute as you see fit. Or not. IDGAF.

The rental of the space? Everybody has rent or note to pay. When you tip on the total bill at a restaurant, that total bill from the restaurant includes their cost for the space. Or not. Do what you want. IDGAF again.
