Reserving Hotel Rooms for Out of Towners

I am getting married just outside of the city I live in.  There aren't really any nice hotels close to the venue.  So I'm wondering if I need to have everyone at the same hotel and arrange for transportation.  I wasn't really sure if it was my responsibility to arrange a place for everyone to stay together or what.  Thanks ahead of time!

Re: Reserving Hotel Rooms for Out of Towners

  • We "blocked" rooms at the resort as everyone we invited has to travel there; and got a good discount. We did not have to pay anything to do so.

Then we provided the guests with details and left it up to them to confirm reservations, upgrade, or go somewhere else entirely and left it out of our hands. If they have not made their arrangements by a certain date, then the resort just "unblocks" the room.

  • We blocked rooms at three hotels in different price ranges (didn't cost us anything, if they didn't reserve by deadline, they were released).  You don't need to arrange transportation to the venue from the hotels, and some people will probably make their own arrangements outside of the room block(s).
