typing out thank you notes

Is it rude to type out thank you notes instead of hand writing them?  Being dyslexic  I am having a very hard time writing them out by hand.  Even if I write slowly it doesn't seem to help.

Re: typing out thank you notes

  • My only problem is that it could look like a form letter that you change the recipient and gift in each letter. You could add several sentences personal to the recipient and particular to the gift. Can your new spouse do them? It is, of course, better than not doing them, in ight of your disability.
  • Unfortunately my husband's hand writing is pretty bad...like really bad.  I would personalize each one for sure, I'm not concerned about the time it would take.
  • Ditto NYC. As long as they're personalized I think it would be ok. Much better than never sending them!
  • Yep, definitely personalize and sign each one and you should be ok. Honestly, it's refreshing these days to even receive a prompt and personal thank you note. I would appreciate that more than someone physically writing one out.
  • I think typing is fine in this situation but could you personalize it a bit more than just adding their names and what they gave you?  Maybe adding in, "I had a great time with you on the dance floor!",  "We'd love to get together soon with you two after we return from the honeymoon!", or "It's been too long since we saw each other!"...something that applies to that individual.  Just try to personalize it as much as you can.

I agree. If I got a thank you I would much rather it be personalized and typed, than handwritten and generic. I've received both before. And with both my FI and I having bad handwriting...I know your pain lol
