oh no!

Our invites went out a month ago, a little last minute since there was an issue with the church.  Luckily it was resolved and we changed the ceremony time to 5:30 instead of 6pm to give people time since the ceremony will be a full mass (1hr).  I looked over the invite proofs with FI and my folks who kindly footed the bill for them and all is good.  Went to FMIL house last weekend and our invite is on their fridge.  Reading it again in a non-stressed out haze i realize the cocktail hour starts at 7:30 not 7 like we asked!  Everyone has been told 7 and on the website we have 7pm as well....do i just let this be or do i ask the venue to do 1.5hrs of cocktail hour incase people show at 7:00?

How much travel time is there between the church and the cocktail hour venue? You may be able to get by with some people showing up closer to 730 if getting out of church+travel time is over 30 minutes.

Otherwise, make an announcement at the end of the ceremony about the change in time if you aren't able to get ahold of everyone before then.

Edit: Wait...do you WANT guests to show up at 7 or at 730? I wrote my answer thinking you wanted them to come at 7 but that they might com at 730. Either way, the announcement at the ceremony for anyone unaware should be good.
  • So what time is cocktail hour supposed to start at the reception venue?

Could your venue just move everything up so it starts at 7?  Cocktail hour at 7, dinner would start at 8?
  • cocktail was supposed to start at 7 not 7:30 since we thought 8pm was late enough for dinner.  Church and venue are about 1 mile from each other.  I was thinking of the announcemnt but then realized that a lot of people will not attend a full catholic mass.  I know its rude but some just cant be bothered.  How do i let them know?
