Soda bars?

We're not serving alcohol at our reception-our venue doesn't have their own liquor license or bartenders, so in the end it would end up being super expensive and complicated. Plus our reception will start around noon, so there's no real need for it.
We originally were just going to do a few kinds of lemonade and iced tea, but I just found an idea for a soda bar (lots of different kinds of bottled soda) and kind of like it.

Thoughts? As a guest which would you be more interested in?

Re: Soda bars?

  • How about italian sodas? Then you just need the sparkling water and and all kinds of fun syrups.
  • I think it sounds great! You could also buy different kinds of syrup to make Italian-like sodas (cherry, vanilla, caramel, etc.)

  • The italian soda idea is really cute, I'd love that - and I think having some sort of carbonated drink, soda or otherwise would be a nice option aside from lemonade and iced tea.
  • Italian sodas not be my favorite.  But, soda bar sounds fun.

Mine either. I was thinking more along the lines of Boylan. When I was a barista, that's the brand we sold. Rick loved the cream soda.

  • Soda bar sounds fun.  Maybe you could also make it into a dessert option with ice cream.  Root beer floats, coke floats, etc.  You could even do that with the italian soda thing.  Maybe you could hire a sodajerk who would make that.  I used to be one!

Recipe for old 50s style cream sodas:

Table spoon of ice cream at bottom of glass
Add one squirt or a couple of table spoons of syrup
    Mix together
    Then add the soda water
Add ice cream scoop on side

    I dunno...could be cute.. lol

  • Ours came with our photography package, otherwise I don't know that we would have
  • I LOVE the idea!!!!!!!  I have been wanting to do it for a while, but we are going to stick with strawberry lemonaid, water, and black tea with citrus....because we already bought glass drink dispensers. that and I don't know where to go and get cases of izzys...
it will be so fun and colorful and summery!
