Some of our wedding guests are couples. We are closest to the guy then the girl but still know the girl fairly well. 

Is it improper to not invite the girl to the shower? I don't know her that well and don't know if she would be uncomfortable. She already knows that she is invited to the wedding because of our engagement party. We are from a small town so she will know we had the shower. I really think it will be awkward for her not knowing me well and without her guy? any suggestions?

If your friends with the guy moreso than the girl, you don't need to invite her to the shower. Showers are for your close friends and family, not every woman invited to your wedding. I had a couple showers, and the max number of people at each was maybe 15-20.

I personally wouldn't invite her and wouldn't be offended if I were in her position and not invited, but maybe you could feel out her H and see what he thinks.

Ok thats what i thought. I don't think she will be offended. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking an etiquette rule.

Well, the others are right, you don't have to invite her, but here are some things to consider.  You already said in your other post that you might be having 2 showers and are struggling to come up with enough people and/or worried about inviting everyone to two showers, so why not go ahead and include her in at least one of them? 

Also, when my H's best friend got married, I wasn't invited to the bridal shower of his FI because she didn't really know me very well but truthfully my feelings were hurt.  I never told anyone that, but my H was a groomsman and we had just moved to town and I thought, would it have really hurt for her to include me and extend that gesture of friendship?  So consider how close you guys are to this guy friend and how often you see them and hang out with them before you decide whether to exclude her or not.
