XP: Save The Dates -- Am I Forgetting Anything?

Save The Dates. Am I forgetting anything? Do they look dumb? Any comments?

Re: XP: Save The Dates -- Am I Forgetting Anything?

  • I don't think they look dumb...   but here are my comments.

The large picture on the front... your fiance looks... well, disinterested and bored.

I would take out "formal" and just put "Invitation to follow"

I would remove the photographer credits on the back. It looks like an advertisement.

  • I also don't think they look dumb.  I generally like the design.

I have never seen "save our date."  All the magnets we've accumulated on our fridge say "save the date" or just have the info.  I would think it was a little weird if I got it, but no biggie if that's what you want.

I agree with PP that the main photo on the front is a little awkward.  Your FI is staring off into the distance, and you are smiley at the camera.  I might go with a photo where your expressions are more matched, if that makes sense.

Don't forget if you are password protecting the website, you need to include the PW.
  • IMHO, I would include your full names. It's entirely likely FI's family/friends won't know the spelling of your last name and vice versa. Or distant Aunt Susie gets this in the mail and goes "Frank and Stacey WHO?!?!?!?".  This helps if they are sending correspondence to you prior to your wedding, looking up registry information, writing out checks to you, really a whole bunch of things.

On the front you could leave your first names only, but on the back put: Stacey Smith & Frank Johnson

Yeah. He kinda looks like he'd rather be anywhere else but there.  If I was receiving it, I'd want to see something where you both look absolutely thrilled that you're getting married..

I'd also use 'save the date' rather than 'save our date' and include your last names.  Minor changes but I think they make a difference.

I do like the layout and the colors, though.  It's really pretty.
  • I agree with PP about your FI looking really disinterested in the photo, but I think they look good otherwise!

*Total side note-I noticed the city listed on the STD-have you ever eaten at Later Gator? The crepes place? My cousin had a wedding in the area a few years ago and had a day-of luncheon there and omg it was the best thing ever! If I weren't so far away I would go back there all the time!
  • I generally like the design, and the colors, it looks really cheerful.
But to me it feels like you're beating people over the head with the date. You have it listed 3 times on the front, and another time on the back. It would strike me as a bit weird, but at the same time I love that you have so many pictures, so there's that.
  • To the people saying he looks disinterested, well, he is, and no, I can't find a picture of him looking otherwise. The picture is what it is. I do appreciate your comments about it--and believe me, if I had a photogenic fiance, I'd make sure to take more pictures, but the truth is--we have been together for six years and before we had these photos taken, we had 10 photos together. Maybe 12. He HATES his photo being taken. He does NOT smile in photos.

So, this is making me question having our photo on there at ALL. If all of these internet strangers think he doesn't look happy to be getting married. Well. Probably everyone will. And after being with someone for 6 years, we already are being hit with "OH, SHE FINALLY WORE YOU DOWN, HUH?" So. These photos will just drill that home, and I'll have to deal with that all over again. I've seen plenty of Save The Dates without pictures, so maybe I'll go that route, although I think my friend (photographer) will be upset, since she drove 4 hours to take the pictures for the cards. I don't know.

P.S. The photographer is my friend, and I wanted to help her business, so that's why her information is on there.
  • Awww OP, no one was trying to make you have to defend yourself or your FI.

Seriously, if you used ANY of the smaller pictures as the larger picture, it would look much better! He's at least looking at the camera/happier in those!

We love your design, and I personally would think it's awesome if I got it in the mail!
