Re: Well, we made it to Friday

• LDY that sounds like Hominy Grill's shrimp & grits. Did I mention I lived in Charleston for 8 years? And that my wedding was there? And we had shrimp & grits at the reception?
Good morning. FSIL and her husband found out yesterday that he has kidney cancer.  He went to the hospital thinking he had kidney stones, but he has a massive tumor instead.  They're telling the kids tonight.  The kidney comes out on Monday.

I am so sorry to hear that :(

• Grits are gross. Ugh.

I was totally fine eating wise on my wedding day. Didn't have breakfast (but I never do). After hair, my MOH and i went to Ocharies for some chicken fingers. And I ate until I was stuffed at my wedding. Still didn't finish my plate though. And then after the wedding, we went to bed, I feel asleep and H ordered a large pizza. I woke up to eat my half and passed back out. It was a good day!

• specialk, T&P with your FBIL and family. Is the outlook good for after the kidney is removed? It sounds like they caught it pretty early.
• Oh Rosie, it will take a long time.  BB's are the worst updaters.

SpecialK, I'm sorry to hear that. That's really sad.
• This is one of my favorite restaurants, and I LOVE their shrimp and grits:

• Panda - that would be it!! Hominy Grill!!

LTB - Is it weird that I LOVE when people tell me I made it to their dreams?! I'm glad my sombrero was able to assist you with delivering the much needed hat to the cowboy!

Manda, I think shrimp and grits are an option for my reception. Served in a martini glass, which I think is kinda lame, but whatever. Or maybe it's grits with pulled pork in a martini glass. Whatever, I'm sure it will be tasty.
• Anna and LDY - I made the MOST AWESOME grits a couple of weeks ago. It took me a few days, but I ate them all. I used the speckled heart grits I was shamelessly plugging here from Callaway Gardens in Georgia, made them with half water, half milk, stuck a Paula Deen amount of butter in them, and LOADED them with cheese.
Even with all that cheese and butter, J still wouldn't try them. He thinks of restaurant runny grits. I hate that.

Oh man. I think I may know what I will make tonight.

• From looking at the CT scans, they don't think it spread, but they won't really know until they actually perform the surgery.  I imagine his prognosis would be decent if it hasn't spread.  I hit up the library yesterday afternoon, and I have some reading to do.
• Morning!  I haven't read any of this, as a caveat.  I see we're talking about grits so I'm kind of curious to read the trail and see how we got there.

The phones are down at my building which sucks/is awesome because basically my whole job is on the phone.  But our other building is closed because the power is out and I was supposed to have an interview with a student there at 11am so I had to call him (from my cell phone) and only got his voicemail so now I'm worried he's going to go there and be confused.

H and I went to a local carnival thing last night for a hot minute.  It was mostly teenagers and old people, but I got some funnel cake so it was all good :)  And we could walk from our house so we figured what the heck.

• ugh and now I am reminded why I have to eat so much, I must not have had enough for breakfast or the right stuff or whatever because I have got the shakes. I think it might be sugar. I hate this.

• Anna, I had a friend have a whole "grit bar" at her wedding. Grits in a martini glass and then there were different toppings you could add. I considered it amazing.

HABS - YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING!!
• The day of the wedding, I was kinda noshes. My MOH's mom brought us bagel chips and chicken salad to eat before the wedding, but other than that I didn't eat anything. A BM made me a plate of food - BBQ - and then I picked at it for about 3 minutes til I realized I wanted to get the show on the road and went to dance with H.

After we got to the hotel the only thing we were interested in doing was getting food. We had a lot of people make comments about us being in wedding clothes and headed up to our room. "Go consumate that thing!" etc. But we literally went upstairs and changed and came back down. People gave us hell, so we went back upstairs and watched an episode of Mythbusters then came back out with mussed hair and went to Chilis.

We didn't have the energy to go at it until we had some chicken tenders in our bellies.
• Aw, Specialk, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully they find out it hasn't spread and he has a speedy recovery.

I already decided I want Publix chicken tenders and Chipotle on my wedding day which is going to be a lot of food since my ceremony starts at 1. Oh well, I made sure to buy a dress that has room for food.
• Rosie - since I've been tracking my intake on Sparkpeople.com I've realized I must be eating the wrong things because I'm eating all of my allowed calories per day (1500-1800) and I'm still starving at certain times.  If I adjust my eating and it still doesn't go away I'm going to the doctor to have my blood sugar tested or seeing a nutritionist.

• specialk try not to drive yourself too crazy with research. For me that tends to lead to the "what ifs" and that's not always good. I'm sending you happy healthy vibes!
• I'm drawing a complete blank on what I ate the day of my wedding.  I do remember making Shea sit down with me to scarf down a plate of food at the reception, but I have no idea what I ate before then.

• I ate a ton on my wedding day. Waffles, eggs and bacon for breakfast, courtesy of my lovely parents. Chicken salad sandwiches at the the salon for lunch, with champagne, of course. Then we stopped at Target to pick up all kinds of snacks (M&Ms, cookies, crackers, etc.) on the way to the ceremony site. I also ate a full dinner and 2 pieces of cake. It's a miracle my H didn't have to roll me to the car at the end of the night.

• I agree with manda..do enough research but don't overload yourself. A ton of what ifs are never fun. T&Ps!
• i wish we could have publix chicken fingers for our late night snack.  I friggin <3 those things so bad.

We are having a french fry station and I'm pretty pumped about that.

• On my wedding day I ate a little breakfast (scrambled eggs and some bacon).

Lunch was a slice or 2 of pizza

Dinner was filet of beef and crap cake.  I was also able to get a few apps.   I was annoyed I missed the sushi everyone was raving about and we missed the raw bar also...  Oh well...
Ok.  What's this with Publix and chicken tenders. NC is lame and has Harris Teeter instead of Publix, and it's enough I can't get Publix doughnuts.  If I'm missing out on amazing chicken tenders, I'mma be upset.
Posted by SarahR11
You are missing out. I'm forced to shop at Harris Teeter now and it doesn't hold a candle to Publix.
• I am thinking I will either have an everthing bagel with creamcheese and bacon for breakfast or a fried egg sandwich on the morning of my wedding. I have decided to spend the night at my parents and have requested that we either watch drop dead gorgous the night before the wedding OR heidi with shirley temple.
