A short walk to the Venue

I'm trying to dot my I's and cross my t's so here I am.

The venue we're using is literally across the street from our church. It's no more then a 50 yard walk from one to the other. We go there after services on a regular basis. As such, aside from grandparents and very young kids etc, we're considering not offering transportation. I'm assuming this is fair as it's just so close. Any nays?

Offering transportation isn't required anyway, and in your case, not needed at all. I bet it's further than *that* from the parking lot.

  • Unless I'm in the bridal party I don't expect the bride & groom to provide transportation for me from the ceremony to the reception.

Really? So if you were a BM in a wedding where no transportation was offered, what would you do? Refuse to go to the reception?

I was about to say the same thing. I didn't offer transportation for my BP. They all drove themselves. They didn't mind at all.
  • You don't need transportation. If someone can't walk that far, they'll figure out a plan (have someone pick them up and drop them off, bring a wheelchair or walker, etc).

I would definitely go to the reception and would get myself there.  In every wedding I've ever been in, transportation for the bridal party has always been taken care of, so it's nothing I've ever had to worry about.

    This exactly.

  • I've never been in a wedding that I didn't have to drive myself around. And I didn't transport my BP anywhere. Huh.
  • I think it's fine if it's a short walk.

And any wedding i've been to, transportation was not provided for the bridal party. I think bridesmaids and groomsmen would rather travel with their significant others anyway.
