Who's renting Tuxes?

I went into Men's Warehouse tux's today and the chick really irked me.She was uber-pushy and tried to convince FI that he needs to get another GM or convince his dad to get a tux so it's free. Also, kept pushing for a white shirt even though FI has his heart set on a black one. There was much more. What's everyone else doing?

Re: Who's renting Tuxes?

• We are renting, but staying far far away from MW. We also had the pushy experience. I have heard of a lot of people having issues with them. We are going with a local shop and they seem to be pretty good.

• We are renting, but we're using a local place to do it. We wanted brown tuxes (shock and horror! So dated! Eek! :D) and I don't even remember seeing brown at MW.

• We are renting khaki/tan suits from a local tux and suit shop. We haven't been in to look at any yet. But hopefully when we do, they won't be annoying like that.
• Telling our boys to wear a black suit and tie, white shirt. We're getting them very colourful pocket squares though, to go with the shoes their BM counterpart will be wearing.
• J bought his suit from MW. It was buy one get one, and he didn't have any. I don't think his experience was too bad, actually. He got them when he was still wearing a backbrace from surgery, and they let him come back months later to get them tailored.
• We're renting from Tuxedo Junction. We have to use a national chain because it's a DW. He went to MW initially, but they don't carry what he wants.

• Our guys bought suits at MW. Our salesman was super helpful helping us chose silver shirts and purple ties to go with their black suits. It's unfortunate you had a bad experience. Unless you're wanting something truly heinous, their job should be to sell you what you want.

• Our men are probably just doing khakis and white shirts or something similar. No tuxes here. Sorry I'm useless.

• We are using MW- our experience has been good so far. The girl who helped us wasn't pushy. We wanted to do a local place- but all the GM and fathers are all over the country, so MW made the most sense- as everyone can get measured at a MW by where they live. Sorry your experience was not good! But I hear ya on the price- they do seem to cost a bit more than other places.
• We rented from MW and had a horrible experience. $140 per tux and the ties aren't even real, they're like clip ons but have a loop that goes around the neck. It looked like the guys had all worn childrens ties. They were also baffled that I had men on my side, and although their ties were supposed to be different, they screwed it up. I didn't know about any of this until about 2 hours before the ceremony, otherwise I would have just gone out and bought a bunch of ties. In hindsight we shouldn't have rented at all and just asked everyone to wear black slacks, black jacket, white shirt, & black tie.

• "The chick looked at me as if I'm out of my mind when I told her we want black shirts. Seriously, WTF is wrong with black shirts?"Exactly! She kept saying things like, "These shoes would look fabulous on you! Of course, they'd only look good with a white shirt." and "If you would only do a white shirt, I really think you could look nice."
• It took exactly ONE trip to MW for my SIL to go out and buy his own tux.$150 and if you need it a couple times a year it makes far more sense to buy your own
• Exactly C.S.! Wanted me to give her my Dad's phone number so she could call him and talk him into a tux. I said I was pretty darn sure my Dad would wear his own suit because it's what he's comfy in. Her response: "You'd be surprised what a Daddy will wear for his little angel."Like I'm gonna force my Dad to do anything.
• We're going with MW as we have groomsmen and fathers in a couple of states. We went in once to take a peek and to see when we would need to come in and get measured and place the order and the guy helping us was really cool and super laid back. No issues so far; keeping our fingers crossed.
• We rented from a local place. The only problem we had was more than one guy had a button fall off the day of which probably shouldn't have happened but it didn't effect anything. Don't rent/buy from anywhere you are not comfortable. Our guys paid $100 each for their entire outfit including shoes and cuff links.
• We are using Mens Wearhouse and have not experienced any issues with pushiness. They were actually cheaper than any local place and we got more (extra shirt, cufflinks, etc.) It also works out better because our groomsmen are spread out all over the state. This way they can reserve and pick up/drop their tux at the location closest to them so that they are not rushing to try and get to the one by the wedding site Friday night before rehearsal and 'hoping' that everything is ok. And they can return it to any mens wearhouse, so one of them will be assigned to take all of them back the next day.
• we are not using MWH at all. My Brother used it for his wedding last july and they didnt have one of the GM's tux and the GROOMS tux until the DAY OF. we are staying far far away from them. i suggest a local.

• I know Whit! Especially since I was procking some old-school punk inspired clothes today. Camo skater shorts, a bedazzled tank-top with a skull, my favorite pair of converse, and a ball cap that ad this picture on it:I didn't look like ANYONE's angel
• haha, that's also what I was about to say, I'm not sure if she meant an angel from heaven ;)

• I really just want to reiterate how horrible MW is. All the tuxes we got looked oversized and baggy (see sig). H is in ridiculously good shape, but he said he understood for the first time what it mean to "feel frumpy" when he was in that tux.Plus, look at the ties, it was downright comical.

• CS - I wish that we had a bad experience in the past that could have helped stear us away from using them. We should have just walked out when they told us H couldn't try on the tuxes when we were trying to decide on one, but I think at that point I just wanted to get it done.

• We rented from Men's Warehouse, but we had a good experience with our local shop. Maybe just go to a different location. Or tell her to shut up because these are your decisions and you're the customer.
