Out of town gift bags

Both my fiance and I like the idea of doing bathroom baskets, a flip-flop basket for dancers and a gift bag for out of town guests. But how far out of town do you have to be to get a gift? This seems like a dumb question while I'm writing it, but there's next to no one invited to our wedding that's actually from the town we're living in. We haven't lived here very long and only people such as my co-workers are actually from our current hometown. My fiance's parents live two hours away, good friends of ours live about an hour away, fiance's friends and co-workers are about half an hour away, and my family is all from another province and it's a four hour plane ride or about 4 days' driving for them. I was thinking just my family would get one, because everyone else has traveled through this area, knows the sights and how to get around so an out of town gift bag might be a little useless for them... Thoughts?
