Response Card Wording- meal choices

Hello! My reception will offer one entree choice (chicken), and one vegetarian choice.  I need to know in advance who needs a vegetarian meal, and my venue would like to me to indicate it on their place card.  I'm not sure how to word this on the response card.  I could put both choices on response card and say something like this: Please initial each guest's entree choice:Chicken____Pasta_____OR I was thinking maybe I should just put on the bottom of my response card-"Please indicate any vegetarian preferences"(Not necessarily in those words, just something like that.)  Have any of you faced this same dilemma?  What wording choices do any of you reccommend?  Thanks so much!Kristi

Re: Response Card Wording- meal choices

  • I didn't have to deal with this for our cards, but I would think if I had to initial a ton of things I would get confused.  People are already making me mad because they don't know how to fill out the card with how many guests they are bringing.  IMO I would have them indicate if they want something, and if they get to the wedding and say well I want veg. but they didn't tell you, then that's on their shoulders not you..

  • Maybe you should have them write the number of people for each choice. Then sit everyone who was on the same invitation at the same table, and your waiters will know how many people per table need vegetarian meals.I also might indicate on the response card that the pasta is vegetarian:Chicken _____Pasta (vegetarian) _____

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • We're having a vegan option and a fish option and people will pick between the two when the RSVP online.  But I'm a vegetarian, so I obviously think that vegetarian food is just as important and even more delicious than the meat option.  I would just do the choice between chicken & pasta, but indicate that the pasta is vegetarian.  The "please indicate any vegetarian preferences" makes it sound like I have to think of the vegetarian meal.  If you go that route, I'd say something like "Vegetarian option available upon request."
