Why don't people respond to wedding invites and respond on time?!?

I have been planning my wedding since the day I got back from my engagment trip. July 29th 08. I have been on the knot and have read all the responses to invite problems since day 1. I seriously didn't think it was going to be a problem for us. You guessed it, it is!I have asked everyone to respond by Sept. 16th 09 I sent out 60 invites and by the time the 16th rolled around I got 29 response cards back! What the heck?!?!Day by day I am getting a few here and there, and there are SO many people that just want to just call and RSVP instead of sending the cards?! Seriously what the heck?!I am so annoyed and I know there are other things to be angrier about but I seriously have not had a lot of trouble. Oh well just had to vent!

  • You are lucky to get people to respond at all. I think a lot of people just don't know proper protocol for sending responses, or think you only send them if you're attending. At least where I live, no response usually means they aren't coming. Some just don't want to make a decision until the last minute. Who knows? When my daughter got married, I kept track of the responses. Out of 150 invitations, we had 102 that send responses back in some manner. Most were mailed, but there were about 10 that just told us they were coming (and of those 10, only about half showed!).
  • We have had this problem with our engagement party. People will not RSVP to the number on the invite!! It is very frustrating (as is the question what is an engagement party - look it up people!)! I guess people just aren't very considerate anymore. 10/10/10 Bride!!
